I "accidentally" fell into watching journalling videos again, and omg that stuff is so soothing for my brain, and I have no idea why. Especially because most of the videos I see, the people making the spreads use things I would never consider using (doilies, lace, particular types of stickers or washi).

To which end, I have a book I made...forever ago...that I decided I would use as a collage spread book* (because, to me, those journal spreads look more scrapbooky or collage-y than they do what I would consider appropriate for a journal, but that's because I am an old man who yells at clouds). It's roughly the same size as a Traveller's Notebook, because you bet I thought about making inserts once upon a time. So it's not so big of a space to fill, and I don't have to do both sides at once if I don't want to.

And then I thought, "I need to sort some stuff out!", so now I have various folders full of various types of paper and card (supplemented from some general tidying I have been doing) that I can use for said collages.

I even categorised (some of) my sequins, because of seeing someone use some in one of their spreads. And came to the conclusion that I either need to sell or donate some, because I have a veritable mountain that I will never use. (Curse Poundland and that time they had massive bags of sequins in multiple colour sets! Like, it's nice having the different colour options, but oh boy, even if I encrusted every page in sequins, it would probably take me years to get through them all).

I also grabbed my mum's two seals out of writing sets she'd bought + the additional wax because IDK it looks cool when people on the internet do it. One has an interchangeable head, which is nice, and the other one doesn't, but that's okay. It's not like I have an alternate head for it at this point in time anyway.

I'm going to get one that is more "me", eventually. And one that has my constellation on it because I can! (hopefully; as constellations go, Aquarius isn't the most complicated, but it's also not the most simple).

...I just need to get everything a bit better organised in the living room so that I can access things when I need them, and not have to dig through layers upon layers of boxes (or whatever). And then I can collage to my heart's desire!

I don't think many of you follow me on twitter, but in case it does collapse in on itself, you can mainly find me in the following places online (as well as here, obvs):

wordpress: rootsandbonesart.wordpress.com

ko-fi: ko-fi.com/rootsandbones

society 6: society6.com/rootsandbones

my hilariously out of date website: rootsandbones.weebly.com

I am thinking about setting up a gumroad account for digital downloads at some point in the future! I will likely only put freebies up on ko-fi for reasons I'm not going into, because they are, quite frankly, really boring.

Also I figured out a way to film stuff at my desk, and it is not great, and I am not making any promises that that will happen, but hey! I finally figured it out!

*This is what I was wonkily talking about in the last entry, except sometimes I get carried away with myself, and also assume that because I know what's going on, so does everyone else.
I think I only have a couple of new followers, but since I haven't written an about in about two years, I figured it was time for an updated one.

# My name is Jae. I am just past my mid-thirties, which makes me Ancient on The Internet™ ;)

# I like calling people "dude" and "man", and referring to groups of people as guys. This does not mean I think you are all men. It means I like you. If you would prefer that I did not do this, please let me know, and I will not do it!

# Also please let me know if I say something that you find offensive or tactless, because I can be quite thoughtless when I say things sometimes, so I'd appreciate being told so I don't do it again.

# If you're wondering why I haven't granted you access, it's because I don't really lock anything, so it would be pointless.

# Places you can find me other than here: [twitter.com profile] rootsandbones | my art blog | my website | my redbubble shop | I've also got an empty etsy store (though planning to sell paintings there eventually!), an instagram account that I fail to update frequently, a last.fm account, an ask.fm/curious cat account that rarely gets used, and I think that's it!

# I think this is pretty much everything, although if there's anything you would like to know, feel free to ask!

I have a website!

It's here: http://rootsandbones.weebly.com/

There's not a lot on it, and I think you have seen everything on there before, but it's there, anyway. And it's way less cluttered than my wordpress blog...

(Eventually, I'm going to put a page on there about commission prices and so on, but I have to do a bunch of number crunching before that can happen).
★ art blog: http://rootsandbonesart.wordpress.com (post my artworks here!)

★ twitter: @rootsandbones (me, talking rubbish 17/24 hours, seven days a week!)

★ big cartel: http://rootsandbones.bigcartel.com/ (original artworks for sale here)

★ redbubble: http://www.redbubble.com/people/muladhara/shop (prints of Stuff on Things here. Mainly patterns and illustrations)

★ etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Aquarides (I sell amigurumi and jewellery here)

★ instagram: @rootsandbones

★ ask.fm, in case you want to ask me a thing: https://ask.fm/rootsandbones

Commission status: OPEN

If you feel you are unable to pay for anything I have made in one chunk, I am more than happy to work out a payment plan for you!

I will edit this entry as needs be in the future, as I'm planning on limiting it to this (so I can link to it, for example, from twitter). Also it means your flists aren't gummed up with repeat posts telling you something you already know.

If you have any questions, comments are welcome.
Quick about for new friends/readers/people who have forgotten who I am:

> my name is Jae, and I am ancient (okay I'm lying, I'm almost in my mid thirties). I have an awful sense of humour.

> I have depression and sometimes I talk about it, but I always cut stuff if I think it needs/it's triggery.

> I swear a lot. If this bothers you, I will try to tone it down.

> Relatedly: I call people "dude" and "man" a lot and I do not do this because I think you are male. It just means I like you. But if you would rather I didn't, then please say so, and I will stop doing it.

> I like music. ALL MUSIC. Though the way to my heart is probably via super dramatic minor key stuff played on synths. Probably.

> video games I like: Final Fantasy (I've played most of them, except for the MMOs - XII is my fave); Silent Hill; Resident Evil; Shin Megami Tensei (DDS is my fave); Mass Effect; I also play the Dragon Age games, but am not as fannish about them as the other games I play (I'll give you reasons if you ask :) ), though I do like them.

> comics I like: HELLBLAZER; X-Men; Batman; Sandman; Mars; Jojo's Bizarre Adventure; Cucumber Quest; Namesake; Paranatural

> TV I like: Adventure Time; Avatar: The Last Airbender; FARSCAPE (SHOW OF MY HEART); Red Dwarf, The Prisoner; Puella Magi Madoka Magica

> films I like: Back to the Future; Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure; Jurassic Park; Stargate; Event Horizon; Blade Runner; LotR trilogy; The Matrix trilogy; Labyrinth

> I also like languages. I can speak French (badly) and Welsh (very badly), and am learning German. I understand some spoken Japanese/read it when written in romaji (also badly - my attempts at kanji are hideous). Ideally, I'd like to learn ALL THE LANGUAGES, but somehow I don't think they'd fit in my brain :(

> I don't often grant access because honestly I don't friends lock that often any more (I used to lock my writing, but I'm trying not to do that any more. Because honestly, I like sharing things!)

> this is pretty much the essentials, but if you want to know anything else, just ask! :)

> (I'm thinking maybe I should make this a sticky entry...)

HI THERE ARE NEW PEOPLE READING THIS THING. HI. HOW ARE YOU.

Um, I actually don't have a lot to say that I didn't mention in the friending meme. One thing I will mention is that very rarely I friend-lock posts, which is why I haven't granted anyone access, but if you want access, let me know :)
(what you get out of it is my writing (maybe*), and me whining about things I don't feel comfortable talking about publicly).

Also if you have problems with anything I write about, please let me know. I usually post trigger warnings when talking about self-harm (because I used to do that and, like other addictions, it's not something that goes away just because you stop doing it). If you'd like me to warn when talking about depression, I'm fine doing that, too. If there's anything else, please let me know because I really don't like upsetting people.

Finally, I tend to refer to people as guys, dudes, and bros. Please don't be offended by this, it just means I like you :) (I see all three as not being particularly gender-oriented (except maybe bro) and I grew up on films where everyone talked like a surfer, which explains my overuse of the word dude). But if it really upsets or irritates you, tell me.
(I mention this because I have had my wrists slapped for calling a woman dude in the past).

~*~

*I don't write much any more (*cries*), and I'm trying to break the habit of not letting people read my stuff. Which is sort of what that is, because I'm paranoid someone will nick my ideas.

OK, so I have some new people reading this here...thing...

Hi :) Hope you enjoy your stay. You're totally welcome to kick me off your reading list if you find me too irritating (because believe me, I KNOW I can be irritating). But I hope that you won't.

Things you need to know that I didn't put in the addme entry are:

1. I'm self-employed and I work from home.
2. I look after my mum because she needs it, and I still live with her because of that.
3. I have the world's maddest cat, and I talk about her a lot (she even has her own tag!)
4. I play video games a lot, and I don't really watch TV. Right now, I am replaying Persona 4 in an effort to actually finish it (games I have managed to beat are listed here).
5. Other places you can find me on the internets are listed here.

I don't think there's anything I've forgotten, but if there's anything you want to know, just ask :)
AKA Other Places I Hang About On The Internet (in no particular order):

Last.fm: rootsandbones* - if you want to see how many times I can listen to Nobuo Uematsu in one year, this is the place to go. The sad thing is, because I don't scrobble everything I listen to, those stats are wildly inaccurate.

Twitter: rootsandbones
Tumblr: muladhara (main blog) / mooglesforeveryone (reblog blog) / aglorifiedplankofwood (U2 dork blog)
Ravelry: muladhara*
Flickr: aquaridescreations
Etsy: etsy.com/shop/Aquarides
Pinterest: rootsandbones

Any service marked with a * is one on which I'm present, but don't really use as such. Like last.fm, I just use for scrobbles and music stats. Or something. Pinterest is half and half - I think it's really useful, but I go through phases of using/not using with it.
