I "accidentally" fell into watching journalling videos again, and omg that stuff is so soothing for my brain, and I have no idea why. Especially because most of the videos I see, the people making the spreads use things I would never consider using (doilies, lace, particular types of stickers or washi).

To which end, I have a book I made...forever ago...that I decided I would use as a collage spread book* (because, to me, those journal spreads look more scrapbooky or collage-y than they do what I would consider appropriate for a journal, but that's because I am an old man who yells at clouds). It's roughly the same size as a Traveller's Notebook, because you bet I thought about making inserts once upon a time. So it's not so big of a space to fill, and I don't have to do both sides at once if I don't want to.

And then I thought, "I need to sort some stuff out!", so now I have various folders full of various types of paper and card (supplemented from some general tidying I have been doing) that I can use for said collages.

I even categorised (some of) my sequins, because of seeing someone use some in one of their spreads. And came to the conclusion that I either need to sell or donate some, because I have a veritable mountain that I will never use. (Curse Poundland and that time they had massive bags of sequins in multiple colour sets! Like, it's nice having the different colour options, but oh boy, even if I encrusted every page in sequins, it would probably take me years to get through them all).

I also grabbed my mum's two seals out of writing sets she'd bought + the additional wax because IDK it looks cool when people on the internet do it. One has an interchangeable head, which is nice, and the other one doesn't, but that's okay. It's not like I have an alternate head for it at this point in time anyway.

I'm going to get one that is more "me", eventually. And one that has my constellation on it because I can! (hopefully; as constellations go, Aquarius isn't the most complicated, but it's also not the most simple).

...I just need to get everything a bit better organised in the living room so that I can access things when I need them, and not have to dig through layers upon layers of boxes (or whatever). And then I can collage to my heart's desire!

I don't think many of you follow me on twitter, but in case it does collapse in on itself, you can mainly find me in the following places online (as well as here, obvs):

wordpress: rootsandbonesart.wordpress.com

ko-fi: ko-fi.com/rootsandbones

society 6: society6.com/rootsandbones

my hilariously out of date website: rootsandbones.weebly.com

I am thinking about setting up a gumroad account for digital downloads at some point in the future! I will likely only put freebies up on ko-fi for reasons I'm not going into, because they are, quite frankly, really boring.

Also I figured out a way to film stuff at my desk, and it is not great, and I am not making any promises that that will happen, but hey! I finally figured it out!

*This is what I was wonkily talking about in the last entry, except sometimes I get carried away with myself, and also assume that because I know what's going on, so does everyone else.
Yesterday should have been my last day at my old job, but it wasn't because of lockdown. Which makes me even more mad that my boss wouldn't take my keys when I asked him a week ago (it's almost like I knew what was coming, heh), but he said to give them to the assistant manager this week and, well, yeah.

So at some point when everything reopens again, I will have to go into old work to drop off my keys. I thought about taking them off my keyrings, but I'm p sure I'd mislay them, even if I put them in a safe place. So I guess they'll have to stay put for the next who knows long. (At least I only have one key for the new place, so it's not like I'll get muddled with which is which).

My new paints came yesterday, though! So that was a nice surprise! I didn't realise how dark all the colours were till I came to unwrap them, though - it's a good job the colour names are printed on the side, because otherwise I wouldn't know. Especially not with the Payne's Grey and the indigo, which seem like pretty much the same colour (I know indigo is a very dark blue, but this seems almost black, and I'm not sure I'm happy about that. But at least I have some blues I can mix it with to get the right colour).

Finally, another Post Once a Day question:

[personal profile] forests_of_fire asked: Is there a piece of media that you go to when you need comfort?

Predominantly music (to nobody's surprise!) My three most listened to things are game soundtracks (again, to nobody's surprise), and they are FFXII, FFVII, and Spyro the Dragon.

I used to listen to the Skyrim soundtrack a lot for the same reasons, until I found out (just over a year ago), that the composer is a ginormous asshat (which is putting it extremely mildly), so now I don't listen to it, and that was a difficult thing to do because it was absolutely one of my go to "I feel shit, let's listen to this!" soundtracks.

But the other three I've mentioned are my "I don't know necessarily what to listen to, let's put this on" go tos.

The FFVII soundtrack just has such good memories associated with it, even though I was in a really bad place the first time I played it (and some of the tracks are frikken BOPS, y'all. Those Who Fight Further and Jenova's boss fight music are just...*chef's kiss* I could probably talk about it all day, but I won't).

FFXII I've just listened to so much that's extremely familiar and comforting (my faves here are An Imminent Threat and Near the Water (BONUS CHIPTUNE VERSION, as well as Battle for Freedom, which is the final boss music. Again, I could probably talk about this ALL DAY).

Spyro just makes me think of happy fun times, because that's what the first game is to me (I can't pick faves, the whole thing is good :D)

(Please let me know if any of the links are borked!)

# I have started taking the supplements! (Though it took me forever and a day to find B6 on its own but now I have some, and it wasn't expensive, and I'm not complaining). I don't know if they're working or not, as I haven't been taking them for long enough yet (~2 weeks).

# There are now no traffic lights, so I don't need games to play while sitting in traffic! This is ridiculous!

(Anyway, I downloaded 1010!, Puzzlerama, and Classic Words Free. I have only played Classic Words; the other two remain untouched as yet. Although part of downloading them was to see if mum would like them, but she's been feeling shitty recently, and hasn't wanted to use her tablet).

# my hair is now blond with a greenish tint. I have had two people give me (completely welcome!) advice about how to maintain hair colours. So since I've still got a lot of bleached hair (as I'm also trying to grow it out again*), I've been thinking about what other colours I could do. Like an actual purple (though obvs my hair would need to be cleaner than it is now before I attempt that).

# I bought jewellery for the first time in freaking forever! I haven't wanted to wear much in about ten years, but now I have two rings on my right hand (which I already owned), and a couple of bracelets on my right wrist.

(I just bought some more, but since two of the things are presents for my mum, I think I'm allowed to do that, right?)

*I discovered the last time was in April-ish, except that it did my head in, as it usually does, so I lopped it all off again. I am determined to succeed this time!
