about yours truly

I think I only have a couple of new followers, but since I haven't written an about in about two years, I figured it was time for an updated one.

# My name is Jae. I am just past my mid-thirties, which makes me Ancient on The Internet™ ;)

# I like calling people "dude" and "man", and referring to groups of people as guys. This does not mean I think you are all men. It means I like you. If you would prefer that I did not do this, please let me know, and I will not do it!

# Also please let me know if I say something that you find offensive or tactless, because I can be quite thoughtless when I say things sometimes, so I'd appreciate being told so I don't do it again.

# I like ALL the music. I probably like synth stuff the best (I discovered synthwave earlier this year and omg I am not disappointed in it in the least). I'll try anything once, and my tastes are eclectic. (Fave bands/musicians: U2, a-ha, Queen, Manic Street Preachers, David Bowie)

# I like video games a lot! My faves are: Resident Evil (2 is my forever fave); Silent Hill (the original is my fave); Final Fantasy (IV and XII are my faves, but I like all the ones I've played, though X and IX are also good!); Mass Effect (1 is my fave); Shin Megami Tensei (DDS is the best); I also play the Dragon Age games, but disagree with the majority in fandom about everything, and so tend not to actually talk about it. II is probably my fave, though.

I am also into Halo, but I've not actually played the games. I just like the story and the soundtracks.

# I also like comics a lot! I have wanted to write my own for over fifteen years, though it has not happened yet (but it will). My favourite comic is Hellblazer. I read three webcomics regularly, and they are Namesake, Cucumber Quest, and Paranatural. I'm always on the look out for new comic recs.

# I like languages and would like to learn them all. Besides English, I can speak French, which I learnt at school, though it's very rusty now and I ought to revise it. I am learning German, but I'm not great at it. I tried to learn Japanese, and can understand some of it when written down, but only as Romaji, because I can't read kanji :( I also know some Welsh, but my knowledge of it is horrific.

# I don't really watch TV, but my favourite show is Farscape*. I also like A:tLA and Adventure Time. I have a love/hate relationship with Critical Role, in that I love it, but I hate the size of the archive. Occasionally I'll binge watch it, but I think I'm always going to be behind *sigh*

# Talking of tabletop games! I really like RPGs but have never had much opportunity to play in one! The RPG of my heart is Vampire: the Masquerade* (OWoD), and probably Changeling: The Lost (NWoD). I'd like to have a go at exploring (possibly playing!) other systems, though, and Critical Role has helped change my mind about D&D**, so I'd also be willing to give that a go one day.

# If you're wondering why I haven't granted you access, it's because I don't really lock anything, so it would be pointless.

# Places you can find me other than here: [twitter.com profile] rootsandbones | my art blog | my website | my redbubble shop | I've also got an empty etsy store (though planning to sell paintings there eventually!), an instagram account that I fail to update frequently, a last.fm account, an ask.fm/curious cat account that rarely gets used, and I think that's it!

# I think this is pretty much everything, although if there's anything you would like to know, feel free to ask!

~

*I REALLY feel like this is showing my age, but I guess I'm coming up to that sort of period in my life now????

**Default Fantasy Settings™ are not my cup of tea, which is why I've always been lukewarm where D&D is concerned.
