Okay, so the most exciting(?) thing that has happened since I last posted was that on Thursday night, it snowed really heavily. There must have been, like, a foot of snow in the deepest parts, I think.

Anyway, the roads were clear, but the buses weren't running on my route, presumably because the drivers couldn't get in (I live in a very hilly area, and when we get weather like this, the roads that aren't at the bottom on the valleys aren't gritted or cleared).

I was supposed to be working 9am to 1pm, because I had a Thing™ in the afternoon. The first thing that happened was that the Thing™ got cancelled because the person I was supposed to be seeing couldn't leave their house due to the aforementioned snow. The second one is that I didn't see a bus go past my house till midday. Also I didn't have a contact number for work, so I couldn't ring to let them know I couldn't get in, so I decided I'd catch that bus on the way back and work the afternoon.

Which is what I did.

And it was a good job I did, because it turned out there were only three other staff working the floor (not including my supervisor), as well as two people on the tills. There are usually way more people in than this.

Anyway, most of the snow has gone now, for which I am grateful, as I have to go to Halifax tomorrow, and I've been there in bad snow in the past, and it is unfun.

In other news, by a strange chain of events, I ended up listening to Natwest-Barclays-Midlands-Lloyds by the Manic Street Preachers the other day, and I really enjoyed it, and then I was like, "I should listen to all of Generation Terrorists some time soon!" Except that I put it off for a couple of weeks, and only ended up listening to it and Gold Against the Soul yesterday.

But I really enjoyed it! I forget how much I like their early stuff because, for whatever reason, Everything Must Go is the only album I have fully ripped. I mean, I don't like everything on the first four albums (and The Holy Bible is A Trial at the best of times), but I don't know why I don't have them ripped already. Presumably because I am fool who forgets what their favourite music is, IDK.

(Also yes, I am one of those jerks who barely likes anything past Everything Must Go. Fight me).

In other other news, I saw the end credits of World of Final Fantasy, though I don't feel like I beat the game.

I've slowly been chugging through it since I got it, and I think I enjoyed it? The plot is wholly an excuse up to a certain point (where then everything gets dumped upon you, and I mean everything), but that's okay? I think. I guess I don't mind FF characters getting dumped out of context, since I've already played some Kingdom Hearts, and everyone who's an FF character in that is completely contextless. So at least that didn't bug me.

SPOILERS UNDER HERE! )

I don't really think I have much else to say about it right now, but that's okay.

World of Final Fantasy finally arrived on Saturday and, not for the first time, the game box got busted in the delivery*. It was also almost a week late, in spite of the label saying 48 hour delivery but ehhhhh, it's here now. (Turns out I could have just picked up a copy in Burnley's CEX, as I saw one yesterday when I was in there, but I didn't know that as I wasn't looking for it last time!)

The gameplay is Pokemon, but make it Final Fantasy. Which I don't have a problem with, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I don't know what I was expecting. Do like my turn based combat, though, sighs happily, and I notice it works a little like the combat in FFX in that you can see who will act next, and that the turn order can be visibly affected.

Anyway, I'm about five to six hours in/in chapter six (maybe), and I see the chapters are like the FFXV chapters - i.e. short and seemingly pointless to divide the game up this way, imo. I think whoever at Squeenix has a boner for dividing games up this way needs to stop. It is nice to be able to say that you're in chapter wherever, rather than trying to come up with a non-spoilery way to say where you are, but when they don't even do a good job of dividing the story or make any narrative sense, then nahhhhhh. This has bothered me since they started doing it in FFXIII, where the divisions make about as much sense as they do here, so it's not like it's a new niggle**.

I also saw a second hand copy of the royal edition of FFXV for £5 in Game yesterday, and I wavered for exactly five minutes on whether to buy it or not. I did not, because I know I'm never going to play FFXV again. That feels mean, but right now, nope. Maybe in the future when I've forgotten exactly how mad I am at the whole thing, but definitely not right now.

I am not drawing much at the moment, so ofc I spent some of my birthday money on pens and paper!

I'd wanted to get another Uni Pin in the 08 size, since I have been enjoying what a chonker of a pen it is. I went in TK Maxx to look at rucksacks (they were woefully terrible, but that's part of the problem - you never know what's going to be in there), but I thought I'd have a look at their stationery section because, well, I'm me.

And they had a 12 pen set of Uni Pin pens, which is something I've been coveting since forever ago. It was £12.99, and I was sure they did them cheaper in The Range, and I was going there anyway. TL;DR version: got the exact same set in The Range for £9.99, which is less than a quid a pen! It also has two 08s in it! And two 05s, which is not a size of technical pen that I am anywhere near running out of just yet, but okay. (And also two 02s, which is great, since I've also been loving the smaller sized tips as well recently).

And I bought a set of Faber Castell mixed media pads, as they've been selling a set of an A3 pad, an A4 one, and an A5 for £8, and that was what I went there to buy. Even though I am not drawing much, and I have lots of fancy paper already.

I've also been playing with my 6.0mm Pilot Parallel pen and having a ball with it, and I don't know why I didn't do this sooner! Although it has lit up my lettering obsession again, because it's the perfect pen to learn Blackletter with (recommended by lots of people online!) and, well, ya'll know what my weasel brain is like. I'm just going to roll with it, and not worry too much about it all.

*I sold Remember Me to CEX the other week, and I almost thought they were going to refuse to take it because part of the box was busted but, my dude, that is how the box came to me! Anyway it was fine, and I got like, £1 for it, so I'm not going to complain.

**Although I guess it works when your party is split and you're swapping from one group to the other. But that's about it.

I feel like I had a really tiring week last week, even though I wasn't really doing that much. But I had two interviews, which obviously I stressed about a bit, and I did a lot of walking (compared to recently).

I walked home from work one day, because it was that or wait forty five minutes for another bus in the cold, and the interviews were within walkable distance of the town centre that I had to go to.

I also had a job centre appointment on my birthday, which annoyed me because nobody told me the thing it was for was a likelihood AND they didn't tell me they were going to make it. But anyway, it's over with now.

Besides that, my birthday was chill, and I ate pizza and sushi because why not.

I have a busy busy week coming up, which includes a blood test at stupid o'clock in the morning tomorrow. It's my own fault. I could have asked for it to be later, but I knew I was also supposed to be in work that day, but couldn't remember for what time. So basically, I'm going to be asleep when I'm not in work, by the looks of things.

I wanted February to be chill! Apparently the universe disagrees!

In video game news, I am still sort of dinking at Okami. I got to my favourite bit (Kusa Village) but, by doing so, I have activated the worst side quest in the entire game (the Canine Warriors), and you can't not do it, because you need to to continue the plot.

BLEH.

Also I ordered myself World of Final Fantasy with the last of my Xmas money! I don't know why, but I didn't think it was available on PS4 for some reason, but it is! So I bought it! I have exactly no idea how I'm going to feel about it, except that the main character designs are Very Nomura, and that mildly irritates me, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

(Not that I am dissing his skills as an artist - he is clearly nine hundred times better than me - but just that he has this distilled style that is instantly recognisable, which is good, but also which I don't really like that much, which is not so good).

Anyway, the game hasn't even arrived yet, as I only ordered it yesterday, so we will have to wait to see how I feel about it!

And then also I watched Flembons play Hi Fi Rush, which I wasn't into at first at all, and I can firmly say I wasn't that into it by the time he'd finished it. It was okay? I think, because it was a rhythm game, it might be one that's better to play yourself. And it would have helped, I think, if I had not spent the entire game wishing I was playing NEO: TWEWY instead.

The reason for this is that Flembons was playing in Streamer Mode, so all the music with royalties is replaced by tracks that were specially written for the game, and they gave me the same kind of vibes as the NEO: TWEWY soundtrack, even though it was a different composer, and they weren't really all that similar.

But yeah, it was an okay game, but I thought the plot was kind of "eh". But maybe it's just not for me, and that's okay! I don't have to like every rhythm game going just because it's about music.

~

That's all I've got for now, I think. Off to do the washing up before I decide I don't wanna.
