My mental and physical health have taken a nosedive recently, so THAT'S FUN. Usually I can handle when it's one or the other, but both of them decided to tag team me, wheeeeee!

I'm not going to go into more detail than that for the moment, as I have some plate spinning that I need to deal with first, but I am going to go to the doctor about both things, so I am working on getting it sorted.

In other news, have a meme!

[personal profile] lassarina did a meme whereby someone had chosen three interests off her profile page for her to talk about, and anyone else was welcome to comment and let her pick three interests off their page, for them to talk about. So I did. And if anyone wants me to pick three for them, let me know in the comments!

Rina picked: Digital Devil Saga; Yume Nikki; Ancient Egypt

blather under here )

I hope those were adequate explanations; if anyone wants more details/clarifications, feel free to ask!

I know they say an Englishman's home is his castle, but I didn't want an actual moat.

Also I'm only partly English, so.

Anyway, the water stopped running off the hillside sometime during the night. All I know is I woke up at some point and it was eerily quiet*. There's less water on the road, too (though there's still a lot coming down), and it's 75% clearer than it was this time yesterday.

Aaaand the shopping delivery's been cancelled because of "adverse weather conditions". I can only assume they don't know what part of town we're in, and are hedging their bets. (I don't think the road between us and the nearest supermarket is flooded, but I don't know because I haven't looked). To be fair, though, this is the first time it's been cancelled in years, since I think the last time was when it snowed really badly at Xmas 2010.

In happier news, I got some awesome things for Xmas off my mum! (My bro and sister in law have not been to visit yet because they're ill/weather, probably). She got me two wind up dinosaurs that you build yourself, for example. I've made the T. rex, but I can't yet get him mobile (I think his motor is cheap and not very functional). I also have a Stegosaurus :D

There is also a book of Egyptian pharaohs which makes me squee (there's also the hieroglyphs book because OF COURSE I need more of those). I told mum if I didn't get this for Xmas, and had to wait for my birthday there'd be mayhem. And so. Here it is, five inches thick and full of dead people. (Only up to the end of the XX dynasty, but EH I WILL SURVIVE).

There's other stuff as well, but dinosaurs and ancient Egypt are two of my very favourite things :)

I hope you guys had a good Xmas (or Friday, if you don't celebrate).

*I got a cold for Xmas! So when I haven't been sleeping the sleep of the dead, I've been waking every so often because I'm too warm. Which was what happened last night.
A challenger appears today, as I have a question from [personal profile] lassarina: Of characters in various media you've experienced, what two would you like to spend a day with (doesn't have to be together)?

I *really* had to think about this because, quite frankly, some of my choices in favourite characters are REALLY FUCKING questionable (Albert Wesker, anyone?) Then I thought I'd rule out anyone who I have a crush on, because I'd just spend the entire day flustered and that's no fun for anyone (especially not me). So then I didn't have a lot of people left, which is good because CHOICES ARE HARD.

So number one, I think I'd choose Storm. She's a cool lady, she seems level-headed, and I bet she gives good advice. She seems like she'd be a good friend, too, and I bet she has some stories to tell. And it would be awesome to talk to her about her garden, and what it was like when she lived in Africa. And tell her she's my favourite X-Lady (I have a few, but Storm's the tops).

I found it really hard to think of who else to choose (and I'm sorry that neither section will be long and/or particularly involved). Like I said, some of my character choices are really sketchy (although let it be noted that I do not excuse my choices their traits. If someone's an arsehole, I will fully acknowledge that and not try to justify it for any reason. I mention this because it's been bubbling around my head for the last few days).

Right now, I'm crushing on Ancient Egypt again (especially hieroglyphs because language and also to prove to myself I don't need an alphabet to learn a language), so I'm thinking my other choice might be Daniel Jackson. I mean Original Flavour Stargate The Film Daniel Jackson. Not the cheap Ben Browder-a-like from the TV series. Because then we could be Ancient Egypt nerds together, and it would be fucking glorious (there is a viable reason I say he's my inner geek, and it's not ALL language-related). And he could teach me stuff about hieroglyphs that I never managed to get the hang of, and we could argue about who is whose favourite pharaoh and why (I do actually have one). Like I said, GLORIOUS.

I really feel like I should've put more effort into these answers (I seem to be saying that a lot) but honestly I don't know what else to say. Sorry.
