Things that are not good ideas:

~ having a Japanese dictionary and a Teach Yourself German book out at the same time (and I'm totally referring to both simultaneously). Although I am feeling guilty about not being so committed to learning German. Or, at least, feeling like I'm not.

~ Volunteering to get up at 7:30am to let in the guy who is coming to fix the electrics when you have insomnia.

Yeah, I am so clever. I actually think I must hate myself.

I watched Inception again yesterday. Good news is, I still like it. Bad? news is, my (not-so) carefully formulated theory holds no water the second time around. But it becomes a lot more tragic when you have a forewarning of what things mean (I didn't realise the train speech shows up three (I think!) times before you find out what it actually means).

I still prefer the soundtrack though, *snerk*

And it's got me thinking, but not in the way it should have. (Universe, stop poking me now; I GET IT).

(Also it was nice to watch a film where there wasn't a relationship - I mean, obviously there is Mal and Cobb's relationship, but that's OK, I can live with that - but that, you know, Ariadne didn't get involved with anyone. And I don't ship anyone. NO-ONE. I think I'm getting boring in my old age ;) because this is the second time this has happened this year)

I realise this is a year late and so on, but do I look like I care?

Aaaaaaaand, even if you don't/didn't like Inception, I think everyone on the internet needs to see this Sandman/Inception crossover comic, if only for the art, because it's fucking beautiful.

Taught my mum some random Japanese words (Jackie's fault; she made friends with a Japanese man while in Glasgow). She is now teaching me random words back - such as orihon (a folded-concertina book) and ryokan (an inn, which I actually recognised before she told me what it means).

Slightly related, my new favourite German word is Quatsch! which, according to my dictionary, means nonsense. My kind of word, that.
I learnt to speak Welsh, once (I'm not very good at it because no bugger speaks it much outside of Wales*). I'm glad I did, though, because if I hadn't learnt about all the different mutations in Welsh, I never would've spotted them in Japanese.

If you think they don't exist, you're doing it wrong (or not reading your dictionary right).

I would provide examples, but I can't think of any. So, uh, talk amongst yourselves.

*Aside from that one place in Patagonia, but that's a story for another time.
