I did the walk up the Big Hill after all. Though not on the weekend, because between my shopping trip Saturday, and socialising Sunday, I didn't have the time or the inclination.

Saturday was my first community day playing PoGo, and I didn't really know what that meant, so I just went around collecting Mons, avoiding the swarms of Swinub (I'm not kidding - my park was STUFFED with them. I have a screencap of my avatar surrounded by them. I didn't really want any, and I didn't know about shiny hunting). I did see a lot of other players though. There was a gang of younger adults raiding the gym at the graveyard, and I left them alone because holy crap I feel like a very old fish out of water. Also I'm probably not going to get into raiding unless it's required or a Mon that's easily solo'd.

Sunday I took the same walk through the park on the way to the pub where I meet up with my comics friends. There was significantly less Swinub this time ;) In fact, I don't think I've seen one since then, so it's probably a good job I caught a few.

(Socialising was good although, as always, I felt awkward as fuck because I tend not to do much while there, and don't really participate in conversations. So I mostly sat and spun the nearest Pokestops - one of which was the very pub we were sitting in :D )

So yeah, the hill walk! The third stop that's "in" my village is at a five foot tall metal Tyrannosaur. It is up a steep hill. A steep hill that I used to walk up regularly as a teenager because that's what we did for fun before the internet was A Thing (when we weren't playing on my BFF's PSX, that is).

I haven't been on a decent sized walk for a few years or so now. I thought I'd planned my route so I'd avoid the steep bits. I was wrong. (I know it will get easier the more walking I do, though). I ended up going back on myself a bit in places, which was down to having not been on these paths in a while, but also thanks to not remembering where some paths were. ANYWAY.

I discovered there's a path that actually goes up next to the road at one point, which is good, because it's a road with no pavements, and people don't drive slowly up there (the road is wide enough at points, but I feel safer off it). I've walked that road so many times and only just discovered that that path is there. It's so weird!

I got to the dinosaur in the end, though it was very windy and cold up there (it's almost at the point where it's flat moorland, and because I'm in the bottom of the valley, I always forget it's colder up there). I don't think I will be going there again any time soon. I mean, it was a good walk, and I enjoyed it, but it's one of those things that would be nice to do with a friend, I think.

I thought I'd be absolutely crippled with achy muscles the next day but, because I'd already been doing two mile walks for the preceding week, it's not been too bad! The worst part by far is my shin muscles/tendons(?), but I think ninety percent of that is the impact of walking downhill on tarmac (I came back on the road because it was easier/quicker).

In non-walking/PoGo news, I just applied for a job! The first one in years! It made me lol because part of the application asked for salary expections, of which I have none, and I was just incredibly tempted to type, "IDK dude, an actual wage would be nice?"

It's twenty hours a week in Burnley, and only £8.05 an hour, so it's not going to make me masses of money, assuming I get it, but a job would be good. And it's not so far away, so the commute wouldn't be bad, either. I don't think I will get it, though, but it didn't mention a minimum amount of experience needed, so I thought I'd give it a go and see what happens.

Some things:

1. Thanks to everyone who recced me The Last of Us. I know it is a good game, and it has Ashley Johnson in it, but:

a. I like survival horror in principle. I don't play it because I am a big scaredy cat.
b. I have a feeling that game will break me, and I don't want that right now.
c. Cordyceps are terrifying enough in real life without them being used as the basis for a zombie infestation (see also why I will probably never read The Girl With All the Gifts, despite owning a copy).

2. I have finally managed to get a wheely trolly thinger for less than the one I was going to get originally! With next day delivery, it came to less than the previous one. Sadly, I could not choose the colour, and it is bright lime green. I was hoping for blue, but I suppose there might be some way to redye it.

I mean, the storage part does feel kind of cheap, but if it only lasts me a year, I'll be happy (it better last me longer, though). The frame and wheels are nice and sturdy, though, so that's good. Going to try it out tomorrow when I do the weekly shopping!

(also it's good because it means I can use it for transporting stuff to post AND stuff to and from (small) cons, if I start exhibiting).

3. Thanks to Pokemon Go, I have done two ~two mile walks in two days! I would do another today to hit up the local Pokestops, but that I am working this afternoon, and will be on my feet, and I'd rather not be an ow made flesh, thanks.

(Talking of ow made flesh, it turns out there's THREE pokestops in my village. Except the third is Up A Big Hill, and I don't know if my knees are up for that at the moment. Although then again, it's not far from where I used to walk to sometimes, so I might check it out over the weekend, I don't know).

Anyway, I caught a Pikachu on my second day, so I am kind of smug about that. It's a really crappy Pikachu, but it's a Pikachu nonetheless (my nephew will be excited to see it, I bet. Pikachu is his favourite).

I'm creeped out that Google Fit knows exactly where I went walking, though. I have it on for the Adventure Synch, otherwise I'd rarely hatch eggs or get candies from walking. But it's still creepy. TALKING OF WHICH. I hatched two eggs yesterday and got two p good Kricketots out of them.

4. I tried to play some FFXII yesterday, in order to get to the end (I know I know how it ends, etc, but I'm trying to make myself finish games instead of abandoning them. And I am SO CLOSE now to the end). And I've promised myself that if I do, then I can play Infinite Undiscovery on the 360. Or I might change my mind and play something else.

Anyway, the point of this was that not only did I keep getting mashed by the enemies in Giruvegan (fucking Behemoth types), but I then ran headfirst into an entite. I don't know what it is about this particular time I'm playing, but I don't think there's anywhere except the Estersand(?) where I haven't encountered an entite.

I feel sorry for people who play this game, not knowing about those arseholes. Especially because they can seem to be randomly generated.

(When I got the inevitable game over, because Behemoths, the next run into Giruvegan didn't have one at all. Yet surely the weather conditions are the same? Unless they reset on reload for the most part - except for Giza, where it's on a timer. I don't know, and I don't know if I really want to).

5. I didn't think I had much to say, hahahaha. Apologies. I'm going to go and read stuff now.

Curtain Call arrived two days ago, but I am not allowed to have it till Xmas, what with it actually being a present, and the fact that I already had two early presents on the same day. (Mum got me a magnet with a black cat on it, and then some post-its, also with cats on. She meant to get me a keyring, too, but we ended up with another magnet instead. I don't know how, and neither does she).

I'm not going to grump about it, because it's not like I'm not already playing other things. I can drive mum mad by playing the same song over and over again over Xmas ;)

So yeah, I've been playing more FFXIII. Sazh and Vanille will be in Nautilus when I catch up with them, and everyone else in Palumpolum. I am about to face a boss fight I am ludicrously bad at, if past experience is anything to go by (and I've done it three times already because there was that time my Xbox went doink. I think that was the second second-hand one/number two of three).

I've started playing Pokemon Rumble World, which came installed on my 2DS. I have a feeling that I will eventually hit a brick wall like I did with Pokemon Picross, but for now I am happy, and I can't get over how cute the pokemon look in 3D.

I spent one afternoon playing Style Savvy 2*, and almost fell asleep doing so. Not because it's boring, but because I did that for two previous afternoons, so why not make it three in a row? Though it is true what is said, in that it's exceedingly similar to the first game. Though there are a few more things to do in this game, I think. Like decorate your apartment! And go for a walk in the park! The customers are way more complainy in this one, though. OH WELL.

~

*I know it's not called this in Europe but the European titles are daft, imo.
