I did the walk up the Big Hill after all. Though not on the weekend, because between my shopping trip Saturday, and socialising Sunday, I didn't have the time or the inclination.
Saturday was my first community day playing PoGo, and I didn't really know what that meant, so I just went around collecting Mons, avoiding the swarms of Swinub (I'm not kidding - my park was STUFFED with them. I have a screencap of my avatar surrounded by them. I didn't really want any, and I didn't know about shiny hunting). I did see a lot of other players though. There was a gang of younger adults raiding the gym at the graveyard, and I left them alone because holy crap I feel like a very old fish out of water. Also I'm probably not going to get into raiding unless it's required or a Mon that's easily solo'd.
Sunday I took the same walk through the park on the way to the pub where I meet up with my comics friends. There was significantly less Swinub this time ;) In fact, I don't think I've seen one since then, so it's probably a good job I caught a few.
(Socialising was good although, as always, I felt awkward as fuck because I tend not to do much while there, and don't really participate in conversations. So I mostly sat and spun the nearest Pokestops - one of which was the very pub we were sitting in :D )
So yeah, the hill walk! The third stop that's "in" my village is at a five foot tall metal Tyrannosaur. It is up a steep hill. A steep hill that I used to walk up regularly as a teenager because that's what we did for fun before the internet was A Thing (when we weren't playing on my BFF's PSX, that is).
I haven't been on a decent sized walk for a few years or so now. I thought I'd planned my route so I'd avoid the steep bits. I was wrong. (I know it will get easier the more walking I do, though). I ended up going back on myself a bit in places, which was down to having not been on these paths in a while, but also thanks to not remembering where some paths were. ANYWAY.
I discovered there's a path that actually goes up next to the road at one point, which is good, because it's a road with no pavements, and people don't drive slowly up there (the road is wide enough at points, but I feel safer off it). I've walked that road so many times and only just discovered that that path is there. It's so weird!
I got to the dinosaur in the end, though it was very windy and cold up there (it's almost at the point where it's flat moorland, and because I'm in the bottom of the valley, I always forget it's colder up there). I don't think I will be going there again any time soon. I mean, it was a good walk, and I enjoyed it, but it's one of those things that would be nice to do with a friend, I think.
I thought I'd be absolutely crippled with achy muscles the next day but, because I'd already been doing two mile walks for the preceding week, it's not been too bad! The worst part by far is my shin muscles/tendons(?), but I think ninety percent of that is the impact of walking downhill on tarmac (I came back on the road because it was easier/quicker).

In non-walking/PoGo news, I just applied for a job! The first one in years! It made me lol because part of the application asked for salary expections, of which I have none, and I was just incredibly tempted to type, "IDK dude, an actual wage would be nice?"
It's twenty hours a week in Burnley, and only £8.05 an hour, so it's not going to make me masses of money, assuming I get it, but a job would be good. And it's not so far away, so the commute wouldn't be bad, either. I don't think I will get it, though, but it didn't mention a minimum amount of experience needed, so I thought I'd give it a go and see what happens.
