I had my tattoos done yesterday, and I (and my tattoo artist) was surprised by how much the one on my right forearm hurt. It is not supposed to do that! I said it hurt more than the one on my back, which is across my spine*, and the one on my left wrist, also on bone, didn't really hurt, either.

But I did tell her that my body doesn't work like it should, so I'm sort of not surprised my pain responses are messed up.

I'm going to need a minor touch-up on the right one, but I'm giving it a few days to heal up/see if it annoys me (it's really tiny, so IDK if you'd even notice it ordinarily).

But anyway, now they are done, and it feels kind of weird! But a good weird. I like good weird.

Also I got to watch approximately half of The Two Towers while I was there, which was the first time I've seen any of them since mum died. But also it kind of proves I should be able to watch them without dissolving into a puddle of tears. So I might do that sometime soon!

*Which is one of the worst places to get a tattoo, pain-wise.
Having a LotR lovefest. It is totally the fault of Howard Goodall, because he does a film music (and sometimes video game music) show on Classic FM. This week he played an hour of stuff from the LotR scores because today is sixty years since The Fellowship of the Ring was published. So obviously I was in film music heaven, because I love the scores.

And I decided to watch Fellowship because it's about a million years (actually five) since I last watched the films and there's sod all on TV.

(I don't really talk about LotR much these days and I'm not in the fandom, but I have a bunch of happy memories and experiences because of it, and that's cool. And I will always love it because of that. Also Balrogs. I will never not want to draw Balrogs).

(P.S. it's also the reason my cat tag is "and my cat". Imagine Gimli saying "And my AXE!" except replace axe with cat and...there's my tag).

Two Towers tomorrow and maybe Return of the King IF I can be bothered for both of them in one day.

On Wednesday, we had a family outing. It was good, a good time was had, and things were bought. Despite being confronted by the most amazing yarns, I had no desire to buy any more (even though there were several great colour combos, and also some yarn I'd been looking for more of for YEARS). Although I would like to reduce my stash at the moment which...given I don't want to knit or crochet right now, is a little difficult. (I think it's stupid brain right now, rather than I don't know what to work on). In fact I really didn't want to buy much (and not so much because I don't have the readies - which I don't - just because I didn't really see anything I couldn't live without).

I also learnt that if I talk to my nephew in Gollum voice, he thinks it is the most hilarious thing ever, even if all I'm doing is saying his name over and over again.
