I forgot to mention it in my last post, but a week ago, I had my once-every-two-years* eye test. My distance vision is still the same, but my close up vision has changed again, which means I get another pair of ugly reading glasses.
I say ugly, because I am not into current frame design trends, and I remember BIG HUGE GLASSES from the first time around, and they weren't flattering then, and they still aren't now. So I'm stuck with rectangular plastic frames, which are heavy looking because plastic, and bleeeeeaaaaarrrggghh.
Even the designer frames were terrible shapes. Nice colour choices, but terrible shapes. And also unaffordable, even with the discounts I get from being so chronically short-sighted.
ANYWAY THAT ASIDE. My eyes, apart from being the wrong shape for 20/20 vision, are perfectly healthy. The pressure is a good level, and the optician showed me my retinal scans, and how everything looks nice and healthy. (I will never not stop being fascinated by retinal scans).

I am reading The Fifth Season, though I am not very far in (less than 50 pages), and I just looked up on the catalogue to see if my library system has the other two books in the trilogy. And they do! And they are at my local branch! (I am sad that there is only one copy of the entire trilogy in entire library area but honestly I was surprised to even see this sitting on the shelf to begin with. I would have requested/ordered it eventually if it hadn't been there).
So if I like/finish this one, I may go and pick up the others, just so I have them there ready to go for my next books to read.
I was going to read a Jodie Picoult book next - The Pact - but I saw this one in the library and I was like, I wanted to read that, so I picked it up, and I'm glad I did? The Jodie Picoult one sounds sort of interesting, but I think from the blurb that I know where it's going anyway. And it's one of mum's books, so it's not like there's a time limit on reading it, unlike with a library book, which it's taken me two weeks of three to even look at. (I'm going to renew it when I'm in town tomorrow, and will also use this opportunity to look for the other two).
I am glad I'm having less problems with "what do I want to read?" now, but in some ways my weasel brain is still working against me because I still feel guilt for sitting down and reading, or an entire block against picking up something I know I want to read. But I'll get there eventually. It's just my weasel brain has to stop being so weaselly. (*falls over laughing because of how unlikely that is*)

*I know I could just say biannual, but in some contexts that means twice yearly and I have NEVER been to the optician that frequently, thank frog.
