So, in attempting to purchase Xmas presents for family on the internet, I discovered that The Works (a bargain books/stationery outlet) sell Hellblazer trades. At almost full price. It is five years since I bought a trade brand new. I forgot how expensive they were.
ANYWAY.
I thought about which ones I wanted, and went looking on other sites for them. Both Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man did not have the ones I wanted, as I'd decided on Paul Jenkins' run, since he's my fave author for the series (or he was; perhaps my opinions will have changed in the last ten years!) I could have almost any of the others, but not those! Amazon was out, because I've refused to use them for years now (and also the prices were actually more expensive or about the same). So then I thought about a website I've actually used a fair bit in the last year, which was Wordery. I know they sell (some) manga and other comics, but I thought I might be pushing it thinking they might have any Hellblazer.
WELL GUESS WHAT.
They had three of the four(five?) trades containing Paul Jenkins' work! SCORE.
I had to resort to ebay for the other one I wanted but yaaaaaaaay.
And then I started a long overdue reread. I'm currently on issue eleven right now, which obviously isn't very far but I don't care!
(I always feel sad when I see reblogs on tumblr/fanart of stuff people have obviously been into for A Very Long Time, because I always think there's nothing I feel like that about but, um, actually there is. I just don't think of it like that??? Which is stupid, really. But then I don't really draw the fanart because I can never manage to make John look like himself, and I don't really reblog because the fandom is tiny, and chances of finding stuff I want to reblog is minimal).
I am making notes as I go because I've noticed some interesting things already.
I've utterly failed on buying Xmas presents for my family, though (except for one for mum), but I always find it difficult. (I made a tweet last year about how I find it 100% easier to buy stuff for my friends than my family). That said, I've had other stuff on my plate, and haven't really been thinking about Xmas presents. But I've got some for my nephew, and those are the ones that matter (because he's not going to be impressed with a five pound note...)
