The Joshua Tree turned thirty at the beginning of this month, so here's a mini tribute to one of my favourite bands?????


Red Hill Mining Town - This video never got released*, but I find it hilarious that for ages it's just Bono and Larry in shot (though mostly Bono), and then the director's like, o shit there are other people in this band! and there's a couple of shots of Adam and The Edge.

Where the Streets Have No Name (live/Rattle & Hum version) epilepsy warning, take care - I'm screaming. I fucking love this version. I wanted to link it years ago, but it wasn't available then.

With or Without You (live/Rattle & Hum version) - I wanted to link this one, too. I love the lighting, I think it was genius. If you've been friends with me/followed me on blogging sites long enough, my previous Bono icon was a still from this video. (I actually went looking for it just now, couldn't find it, so opted for a different one instead).

Also I've come away from this of the opinion that 26 year old Bono needed all the hugs. I mean, I've always thought fluffy baby Bono did, but now I'm much older than he is in these vids, I think mid-twenties Bono does, too.

*If it had been released, Bono would've had to sing it every night on the tour, and it was deemed that it wouldn't be good for his voice. So it got canned.
