I just got done watching X-Men: Days of Future Past.

And I have no gripes about it! THIS IS SO WEIRD WHAT'S WRONG WHY AREN'T I MAD. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

It made me cry at the end, and not in a bad way, heh. I mean, I get that it's different from the comics story (which I have read and am familiar with), but it didn't make me ragey? Maybe I have finally accepted that comicsverse and movieverse are two very different things? ~JAE BECAME AN ADULT?~ ha ha ha ha ha ha ha what.

But yeah, that was also OK? I liked Blink a lot, I would like more of her (I'm unfamiliar with her from the comics, so I don't know if that's exactly how her power works there, but duuuuuude that was fun in the same way that portals in Portal are fun!) I came away unclear about what Warpath's powers are, but again, unfamiliar with him from the comics (and, in fact, it took me a while to figure out who he was, but I got it before Kitty mentioned him by name). Quicksilver was good! Even if he did look kind of daft?

And the soundtrack used two of my favourite songs! (Roberta Flack's version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, and Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce).

Also if that's Peter Dinklage's real accent, I am having problems accepting that fact, because I'm too used to the one he uses as Tyrion Lannister. (And that always sounds slightly off to me, so what the hell, brain?)

I'm entirely worried about the next one, though (not because I think it will be bad - I'm going to try not think about it either way), but because I know how shit it's going to be for the characters. (Also unsure what's triggered it, but I can't remember from the comics either because it's been a looooong time I immersed myself in X-Men stuff). spoiler! )

One thing I'm going to say that I actually meant to mention on the other post was I've finally figured out what it is about James McAvoy that bugs me. I always knew there was something, but it finally hit me while watching First Class, because of his haircut (and the fact that he's shorter than most of his cast mates) - he looks like my first boyfriend. (Or rather, as my boyfriend more or less did when we were in school, because he don't look like that no more. But he definitely had that haircut when we were teenagers). It kind of hit home even more today, even though Mr McAvoy has longer hair in DoFP, it's the shape of his face and his eyes and it's weird and it totally throws me for a loop, you know?

(I realise you didn't need to know this, but I'm recording it here in case I ever forget. Which is entirely possible).
