The victory of today is that I managed to get some fleece for Xmas presents. I would've had it last week, but that the local market was shut down due to two-day strikes. It was actually quite opportune then, since the weather was shitty, and I felt like a pile of crap.

Anyway, now I've got more fleece than I'll need - although better to have too much than not enough.

Last night, I went out for the community project Xmas meal. We went to the local curry house (I don't know why I agreed to go since I don't eat curry, as I'm not fond of spicy foods. HOWEVER). I had garlic prawns for my starter, and they were the fattest king prawns I've had in a while. Then I had a prawn dansak for my main. I would've gone for lamb instead, but I didn't really fancy it and hey, if you guys ever want to bribe me, offering me prawns is probably the way to do it. I think I picked the right thing because it wasn't spicy at all (the menu described it as mild and it was a long way from that). It was nice and fruity, and it actually suited the prawns really well.

(And you know what made me choose a dansak? The menu said it was a dish of Persian origin, and dang, that just sounds exotic).

Also we had a secret santa. I made a hat from some horrible yarn that I bought for cheap, and decorated it with some chunky plastic beads. I forgot to take a photo of it, and I have no idea who got it. I came home with a lavender scented bath set (crystals, candles, joss sticks, and a small soap) and a Tori Amos CD.

And I had a good time, which was good, especially considering that, because of the time of year and the weather, I am not feeling particularly sociable. Like, I have to go and help Jackie sort out a couple of things over the internet (because the internet scares her), and I've been putting it off for a week because I don't want to leave the house. I should probably just explain this to her, I'm sure she'd be understanding, but I feel like a git by default.

(To be fair, though, last week I had seriously bad period pains for half the week, and I've spent the rest of the time vaguely ill. Also I'm self-employed now. I need to work, which is also what I've been doing).

I'm going to attempt to rock up on her doorstep on Friday after I've been doing errands though. Then I can sort her out, go home, and hole up for the rest of the winter, should I choose to. And I might.

On the other hand, I am feeling inexplicably Xmassy. I think it's because I'm at home all the time now. Also the house is warm while outside is cold (and occasionally snowy). That said, I don't think anyone's expecting it, but I'm not sending Xmas cards this year. For once it's not because I'm being miserable, it's because I really can't be bothered (and have you seen the price of stamps?!) So, if you were expecting one...uh, sorry?

Now to skim over tumblr, then go dig out my VtM books (and then read them), and try to restart my sleep patterns (still got insomnia, yay*).

God, I haven't done one of these in what feels like forever, but I totally meant to post a quote demonstrating Why Vash Is Awesome:

(I am paraphrasing, but this gets the basics across. I'll adjust/ETA this post when I get the actual quote).

Vash: Go ahead, shoot me.
Mook: *pulls trigger. Gun clicks, indicating no bullets are left*
(pause)
Mook: Huh?
Vash: All of you used up every single bullet, except for this guy here (*indicates the guy he's got in a headlock*)
Mook: How do you know that?
Vash: (*like it was no trouble at all*) I counted.
