I donated a book to the library! I've never done that before (and, of late, they've had strict rules about the age and condition of the book, and since most of mine are second-hand, I've never really been in a position to do it).
I think I mentioned I bought a copy of Eleanor and Park a bit back. I tried reading it and had to ragequit it at 37% (according to Goodreads). It's. Well, I should've known I was in trouble because there's a quote from John Green on the front saying how amazing it was.
Rainbow Rowell can write, and I did like some of the stuff she wrote (like the conversation about the X-Ladies, even though I think it was a little improbable for two sixteen year olds in 1986). However, I cringed every time she talked about Park's mum (I get that the point is that he hates himself/his heritage on her side, but it just grated on me every time I read it).
Also, I am no expert on Korean naming conventions, but even I know Park is a common surname in Korea. I suppose at least his mother's name (Min-Dae) looked legit, even if it wasn't. (ETA: what I mean is, I don't know if that is an actual Korean name, or if it was made up so she could get away with other adult characters calling Park's mum Mindy).
Some of the reviews of this book on Goodreads bitch about the romance being insta-love, but it didn't come off that way to me? It felt a lot more natural than a lot of teen/YA books I've read recently.
So I thought there's no point keeping the book around if I don't like it, so I didn't.
I'm thinking about reading Cloud Atlas next, but I don't really know if I want to.

I've been thinking about doing this for a while, so here's a list of every music video I've linked to on twitter:
( 31 songs for your delectation under here )
Hope you enjoy at least some of 'em! :)
