I had a good birthday. It snowed a little in the morning, and the pine trees on the far hill looked amazing, but it soon melted in the rain :(
I got books from my mum, and also a massive metal star (larger than my handspan) which I can hang from the ceiling? a wall? wherever? My brother and sister in law gave me money. I am resisting the urge to spend it on (more) books (right now I am absolutely dying to get my hands on a copy of David Bowie Is..., or the Nicholas Pegg biog, or the book about the lyrics, but I guess I can save those as a goal for later). Instead I am going to put it towards a scanner. Because my old one is almost old enough to take its GCSEs. (Also its colour repro is not as good as it used to be, but I suspect that's down to its age).
I got a picture from my nephew that he did at school, and it is blue and sparkly, and honestly it could not be a better picture for me. I'm going to put it on the wall, because I am a proud rellie :)
I baked chocolate chip and marshmallow biscuits while I listened to Low on vinyl (lucky we have a portable record player, eh?) I listened to some other stuff and noodled around on the internet while they baked. (The one I had was distinctly average, but everyone else enjoyed theirs, so??? My sister in law said the marshmallow ones were like eating candy floss).
Then I made pancakes, because it was coincidentally also pancake day yesterday. They were nice, but could've done with a bit more cooking (I've never made pancakes before, so yay for new experiences). My sister in law was well impressed, and said I am very creative in the kitchen. Nah, not really, I just like making things that are not meals.
Anyway, it was one of the nicest, chillest birthdays I've ever had and that was pretty cool. Now I am another year older, and I still don't feel it.
