I'm about to attempt to listen to Welcome to Night Vale.
I say "attempt" because of two reasons: I've seen what the internet has to say about it and I'm very picky about voices*.
Once I finally found out what it was (because the internet needs a button that says "YES BUT WHAT IS IT?" so I can press it during contextless encounters), I decided I wasn't going to listen because it would not be as good as the internet said. Also I've never listened to a podcast in my whole damn life.
(Look, I'm old and crotchety. Podcasting is new-fangled to me, OK?)
Then I looked on TVT (THAT PLACE, OMFG). And...I thought it sounded interesting. It had "YOU WILL LIKE THIS" written all over it. DAMNIT.
I also liked that they described podcasts as radio on the internet, because that is essentially what it is, and why didn't I realise that sooner????
So I'm biting the bullet, OK. But I reserve the right to not like it, find it highly irritating, or think the narrator sounds like someone is squeezing his balls constantly.
But also, I have a question! What other podcasts do you recommend?
I want to listen to Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap, but I've been wavering on downloading/listening to that for as long as Ursula and Kevin have been doing it. But that's the only other one. Otherwise the world of podcasting is a weird, strange ocean, and I don't know how to navigate it**.

*This is why video Let's Plays don't always work for me. If I can't listen to the narrator's voice, I'm not watching that video, even if it's for a game I love to pieces.
**Which is not to say I haven't thought about doing my own but a) who wants to listen to my voice, b) my microphone is crappy, and c) what on earth would I talk about??????
