NOTE OF GREAT IMPORT!
Since I haven't read LJ in over a year, and the cross-poster is funky now, I have come to the decision that I am going to stop cross posting. I don't even know if anyone still reads me over there any more, because comments are like hen's teeth (they are here, too, but that's different). So. Just a heads-up for anyone following me there.

One of my goals this year is to bake bread. I'm starting tomorrow with a bread mix we bought some months ago, but after that, it's all handmade all the way. I had to buy a bread tin especially since, when mum used to bake bread (back in the dark ages before she worked at the library), she used cake tins. Said cake tins are very dirty now, due to improper storage in the last twenty years. Also, I wanted "normal" shaped bread to begin with, so I can get a feel for it. So I bought one of those oblong shaped tins yesterday. I'm now thinking maybe I should've got two (at least I already have cooling racks, since I presumptuously got some new ones of those a few months ago for baking reasons)
One of my other goals is to learn to knit socks. I go through a lot of socks, presumably because I buy cheapo ones when I can. I like stupid colour combinations. I like bright colours. Sadly, in the cheap sock world, this doesn't seem to be an option (sometimes it is, and that's fab, but then I wear the socks to death and we're back where we started). Sometimes my only options are pink, grey, dark blue, and black. I have nothing against any of these colours (except pink, although there are shades of it I like) but...I'd like something different, you know? So. Why not knit my own (added to which, they will be more durable, easier to repair, and think how awesome I will feel once I've finished them!)

hmpf's recommendation, and it's weird to get used to (my screen currently has an orangey-red cast to it), but I think it's a good idea. My eyes certainly don't feel burnt out now like they do most nights.
(It installs on your PC/Mac/Linux based machine, and adjusts the screen temperature to the time of day - so it's cold and bright during the day, and it gets warmer at night, so that your brain isn't conned into thinking it's still daytime - I essentially think this is a problem I have, so I'm testing it out to see what happens. I do feel tired right now and, as I said, my eyes don't feel as stressed, so victory! \o/ )
