So. I purchased some circular needles. I didn't get on very well with them, partially because they were huge (though I might knit myself a lush cowl on them. I have some very lush yarn I don't tell anyone about ;) ). (Although I have since found a tutorial on the internet for making the circle smaller, thus easier to use, which wasn't even in the so-called knitting bible I got out of the library).
Since then, I've been practising knitting on some double pointed needles which, while a small gauge (3.25mm), is going well. I can't believe I just said that. But I love the effect they create, although, compared to crochet, it is hellishly slow and occasionally laborious. I'm sure I'll speed up as I get used to it. But I like the effect and it's what I was after.
In other news, I am still working on the quail ideas. Now refining the design for the sewn quail, AKA making it up as I go along. It's kind of scary (I seriously have no idea what I'm doing).
The point of learning circular/double pointed needle knitting, by the way, is to do with the quails. I think they'd look awesome knitted (not that they don't crocheted, but I think knitting would suit them). Obviously I will have to learn increases and decreases, but that can't be that hard, can it?
And then, maybe, there will be photos once I am finished with that one! \o/ (hope there's some good weather, as it would be nice to photograph them outside).
Once I've mastered quails (ha ha, what), I might work on some owls. I'll leave cats till last because tails = complicated.

Right. Time to sleep.
