I should make a yarnbending icon, y/y?

Mm.

I made a pair of wrist warmers (I prefer them to gloves since fingers in gloves make me feel clumsy, and they never come far enough down my arms). They were rainbow striped. Then I made another pair, but I haven't made them up yet since I ran out of yarn the right colour (but I have some that matches). They were blue. Then I made a pair that were orange and black striped.

I'd been thinking about making matching articles (the blue warmers go with a scarf I made a bit back). So I made an orange and black striped hat to go with those ones. I didn't follow a pattern, and just made it up from how I thought the hat should sit, and what I like about hats (which is hard, since I dislike hats intensely). And I made a cool hat that I am very pleased with.

Pictures when I can remember to do them.

Currently reading the first in a series of trashy novels written for teenaged girls, called Fallen, by Lauren Kate.

It's...not brilliant. But at least Luce (the heroine) doesn't make me want to reach into the book and rend her limb from limb. Daniel (the (anti?)hero) does, though. It also could have used someone checking continuity. And the time scale's too short. She's at this new school for two weeks, and suddenly all this crap happens to her? No. I just...my disbelief is not suspended.

I dunno, maybe I am more of a cynical adult than the dippy teenager I think I still am sometimes? This book should be right up my street, by all accounts. It's about reincarnation and angels! I should love it!

(That said, I should have loved at least a handful of those Kelly Armstrong ones about werewolves, because werewolves are my pet (no pun intended) thing, but nooooo, they were awful too. Evidently, I am just going to have to write the best damn werewolf novel ever, since I have yet to find one that seriously works for me).

I don't love it. It's not as bad as Twilight (I don't think there's anything as bad as Twilight). Or anything Anita Blake related (oh. wait). And I'm going to keep reading because I am a glutton for punishment where books are concerned*. And also because I found the sequel sitting next to it on the shelf at the library (part three, I don't know if the library has, and part four isn't out till next year).

Oh well, at least I can console myself in that I didn't spend money on it.

*I said to mum that I tend to end up loving pretty much all the video games I've ever picked up, but in turn, I make up for it by reading a lot of seriously badly written books.
