I watched Van Helsing for, like, the first time in forever today. I've actually been wanting to watch it for a few weeks now, but thought, "Eh, I won't, because..."

So since I seem to be watching nearly every Hugh Jackman film I own, I thought today, "Why the hell not? Even if I don't enjoy it, I can just stare at him all the time."

So I stared AND I enjoyed it. I remember why I like this film! It doesn't take itself too seriously and there's a lot of *hand-waving* going on to make shit work, and we never really find out how come Van Helsing lost his memory (even how cool it was/is being God's Left Hand). And it is kind of hilarious, and not in a bad way.

I don't care what people say about this film (and I know they say bad stuff). I like it, and that is what matters. (I mean, yeah, I know Hugh Jackman's accent could use some work (he sounds about as Dutch as I do), but other than that? Great way to spend a couple of hours).

It came to my attention last night (reading this post by [livejournal.com profile] ursulav) that I am a terrible artist. In that I have not attempted a drawn self-portrait in goin' on ten years.

(I say drawn because obviously I am a cam ho and love taking pictures of myself [/sarcasm])

But it just got me wondering again. I wonder if some part of it has to do with the fact that I hate looking at myself (mainly in a mirror, but also photos. Ask me sometime what I spend a great proportion of my commute doing, though).

Although actually I realise that's wrong. I drew myself three years ago, but it didn't look like me and I forgot my glasses. So I tend not to class it as a deliberate self-portrait.

But yeah, I wonder if that's why. It's something to think about, anyway. (I am having lots of thinky thoughts recently! But it's mostly good!)
