(they are the reason I want to learn to compose music. Yeah, I know everyone and their cousin makes chiptunes these days, but if I let that sort of reasoning put me off, I wouldn't persist at being an artist or a writer).

Yeah, chiptunes! It's been a while since I listened to a lot of it (I got into it via Anamanaguchi, and then had a brief revival of interest when they did the music for the Scott Pilgrim game way back when, but haven't really listened to much in several years), but eyyyy good stuff.

Also, good luck on doing more music theory! it is good to keep up on your goals.

I love chiptunes. I blame it on having had an 80's childhood, so it's probably deep nostalgia. There's some good artists out there these days! And if you have any recs, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks. I made a goal this year of learning to compose and, uh, I haven't done very well at it, but the point is that I am trying :D

I just. Like I said to flarewerk, I think deep nostalgia is the reason I like them so much. Also they sound kind of cute? If that doesn't sound too weird...

I'm sure you're not the only one~. Honestly that show surprises me on many level so I always wanna tell people to try it but I know it's not everyone cup of tea lol for a long time I couldn't get past the art style.

I think they sound cute too. I don't exactly know what it is about them that comes off as cute but they are...

I wanted to watch it because of the art style (the era of anime it's mimicking (particularly Steven's design) is stuff I am very familiar with, because it's what there was lots of when I was younger). And I don't know why I didn't, and still really don't know why I haven't now (laziness, probably!)

Yeah! I'm glad you don't think I'm weird for thinking that. I think it's like some of the high notes that sound like sparkles. Maybe.
