au clair de la lune, mon ami pierrot
Jackie asked me to install Ubuntu on her laptop, so that's what I spent this afternoon doing. Well, and watching videos on Youtube while it installed (the best was a very nice Greek lady on the French version of The Voice, which Jackie was showing me because of the high notes she hit. And they were very high. Also Mika is/was one of the judges! And he's fluent in French! I actually understood a lot more of the conversation with the judges than I thought I might - the Greek lady was harder because, of course, she was quite emotional).
Anyway, I ended up having to install Ubuntu twice because I didn't do it correctly the first time (GRUB kind of, um, broke?) Before this, I've only installed it fresh three times before, so I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing. It's all sorted now. I made sure it did, because Jackie is so tech-unsavvy that she'd probably just start crying if it didn't boot correctly*. (I'm exaggerating a little. But only a little). She hasn't phoned me yet, so it must still be ok.
*who am I kidding? I'd cry if it didn't boot correctly.

Jinny came and stood on me this morning! I know this is a ridiculous thing to be happy about but: Jinny is generally afraid of people. She'll even run away from me a lot of the time, and I'm her favourite person.
Anyway, I was working on a largish thing, and I had an A3 sized board on my knees. She was watching me draw in pencil, and wanted my attention (and probably the pencil, too), so she stepped on the board with her front feet. Eventually, she got on with all four feet, kind of turned herself around, and then got off again, but! This is progress!
She did used to sit on me for a bit when she came back after going missing, but stopped after I unexpectedly dumped her off my lap when the shopping was delivered unexpectedly. It's taken this long for her to come back. I just think she's very wary of people/everything.

In the weird dream department: I had a dream that made me so angry that it woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep because I was so narked. I don't know if that's ever happened before, but I assume not. (I have dreams that wake me because they make me cry fairly frequently, and sometimes scary dreams wake me, but not this).
