So! Nikolai is having fun in Thedas. Making bad decisions, and get disapproved at left, right, and centre (apart from from his boyfriend, but we'll get to that).
Man, every time Solas says something about being having to do things you come to regret, I just want to smack him. THAT SAID. Good writing, though. I mean, all these hints are dropped throughout the game - I'd have LOVED to have gone into that absolutely blind.
(I mean yeah, I COULD'VE avoided tumblr for three months but on the other hand...)
ALSO. I love Cole thinking Dorian is like the Fade because he's so shiny (and the Fade is shiny? I suppose that's what all those specular highlights are for, but they just make everything look wet to me. Apart from armour). But yeah, that makes me smile. And I crafted him a staff that, I later realised, gives off a bloody rainbow halo from the right angle. I'm just. What is this, I don't even.
TALKING OF DORIAN. Nikolai now has a boyfriend. At least I know Dorian's not going to fuck off and blow something up. (Also I think they're totally at it whenever they get the chance).
Oh yes, so. I'm doing the templar route this time and it seems like there's more to it? Like I've learnt a lot more about Calpernia so far than I did about Samson (although I am aware that I rushed through Leila's game in an attempt to finish it as soon as possible so I wouldn't be spoilt any more). I'm also intrigued by how stuff changes depending on what decisions you make.
Like, I have been an absolute twat in some places. I did Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts before Here Lies The Abyss (which I'm doing now), and I let Florianne kill Celene, and then I put Gaspard on the throne, and WOW THE DISAPPROVAL. Apart from from Iron Bull. For whatever reason, he approved of that, the weirdo. And now I'm in the Fade, and I know already that Hawke is going to die (partly because Bron's an arse, and she deserves it*). Which is going to upset Varric because guess what? I brought him with me ON PURPOSE. (I also brought Dorian, but I'm taking him everywhere, tbh, and I figure he and Nikolai are almost joined at the hip *snerk*).
*I think it suits that diplo!Hawke becomes harsher over the time, but now agressive Hawke seems nicer? I don't like that. If anything, I would've thought she'd have hardened even more. And Bron wasn't supposed to be friends with Varric, but she doesn't seem any different from Eirian? *shrugs* I suppose it's down to space on the disc(s) etc for voice acting, so maybe they're not so wildly different.
I've also finally discovered where you can get more stuff for decorating Skyhold (I love whoever wrote the descriptions - the Orlesian bed is described as epic, hee). And I've recruited horse master Dennett (I took Vivienne on someone else's recommendation, and it was hilarious). So now I can buy more mounts!
And I managed to seal all the rifts in the Hinterlands. I've never done that before.
I thought I might get bored playing again so soon, but I'm really not. And I think that's great.
