inquisition thus far

I don't know who considers what a spoiler, but given this game is just three months old, everything's going behind a cut. So. You have been warned!

OH BUT BEFORE THAT. I downloaded the patch. Then I pressed A to play the game, and it said HOLD YOUR HORSES I NEED TO INSTALL THIS SHIT TO YOUR HARDDRIVE and I said oh. So after forty minutes of waiting, I still hadn't got into the game, and it kept asking me to swap discs until I was seriously about to start whining on twitter, when it decided HEY NO IT'S OK YOU CAN ACTUALLY PLAY.

I think I missed a bit at the beginning, because I accidentally skipped the opening cutscene. I was trying to pause because I thought I'd accidentally missed the character creation. (I hadn't).

I kind of rushed the creation, though, and I don't know if I should go back and redo, but honestly Leila has this goofy little smile which I've seen exactly once. She's a dwarf, by the way, because I've never played a dwarf but honestly she is so fucking cute I can't even. (I have her British voice because I didn't like the American one, and she was going to be British from the start ANYWAY. I actually had a dream where I set the voice wrong, but I was too lazy to go back and fix it).

I squeaked when I saw Varric for the first time because VARRIC. Scout is adorable, and you can't tell me otherwise. Also Ali Hillis is an amazing VA, and you can fight me if you think differently. I was expecting Solas to sound a lot more Welsh.

Cassandra kind of scares me.

So anyway, I don't think I spent enough time in Haven (WHY are we in Haven, again? The last time I remember being here, sort of undead people tried to attack me). Now I am running in circles in the Hinterlands (WHICH ARE SO PRETTY). I know I need to talk to some people in the main camp (not Haven) now, but I can't remember who. YAAAAAAY.

I keep getting lost, even in the smallest of places. I have no idea where Redcliffe is, which is where I was going but it eludes me!

I'm five hours in, which is nothing 'cause isn't this game supposed to be fifty hours if you don't even bother with sidequests?

Oh and I saw a (very pretty) dragon, but then promptly ran in the other direction because FUCK NO.

ETA: I forgot to mention how fucking amazing the character creator is. Even more so than usual by Bioware's standards this is like wooooooowwwwww. I said I could give Leila a permanent sneer, and my mum (!!) implored me not to. Because I could've. I might have to make more inquisitors just to mess about with the options...

The character creator is AMAZING. The only thing that annoys me is that on XBoX 360 all the hair looks ridiculously shiny :( (and you can't have scars like you can on PC and next gen). But the facial customisation is just stunning.

I adore Cassandra but yes, she is 100% terrifying!

(I actually did give my Elf a slight sneer first time I played!)

Gareth David-Lloyd (the actor who voices Solas) is from sort of the same area of Wales as I am, so yeah, he has a kind of...middle-class South Wales accent that's very distinctive to me but not as immediately noticable as, says, Eve Myles'?

(And Redcliffe is like, up towards the top right of the Hinterlands, but there's no hurry to get there!)
