Waking up at half eight on your day off is not on! I demand a refund!
On the other hand, I went shopping accidentally (had errands to do in town) and was back by midday, so I guess it's not all bad. And I managed to get Jurassic Park on DVD.
I love Jurassic Park, and I haven't watched it in years, so it was great to see it again. I can still remember going to see it at the cinema with my brother (and no parents!) and it is totally responsible for my love of dinosaurs.
I found myself noticing that, for a lot of the film, it adheres to the basic rule of a good horror story/film. You don't see the velociraptors or the T.rex. You see what they've done, and you see people reacting to them, and then your imagination starts working against you so that, by the time you finally do see them, that's some scary shit going on.
And I still love the shot of the glass of water (and later a puddle) vibrating each time the T.rex moves to show its approach. That's a nice use of suspense, right there.
Also I don't think the SFX are ageing too badly for a seventeen year old film, either. There were a couple of moments, but nothing threw me out and made me stop believing that was really dinosaur right there.
(I may have to read the book again, if I can find it).
(I don't care about the multitude of things that are wrong with this film, either (re: making palaeontologists cry and so forth). I just watch it because DUDE THERE ARE DINOSAURS AND THEY ARE AWESOME.

No new phone *sob* Although the lovely Welsh woman I spoke to said she'd put me on a priority list when the new stock came and get it sent to me as soon as possible ♥
I've got to say, T-Mobile customer service is awesome. When you get to speak to an actual person, that is.

I keep thinking it's been Saturday today. Which it totally hasn't been. Obviously.
