specular highlights: the game returns
I had a blood test last week (for continuing investigation into my Problems), and while I was there the nurse also gave me my flu jab. Which was nice! And it did not knock me as sideways as I expected it to, which was also nice!

I installed DA:I on my PS4 last night so I could yell at Solas, and promptly got annoyed at EA asking me to update my Origins Account password. So I started with the default world state that's in game and, well, I'll get back to that in a minute.
I then further got frustrated with EA on updating my password this morning as they now require two-factor authentification, so I had to input a passcode to make sure it was really me. (I promise it was, I am not sure why anyone would want to break into my account, but there we are). I know it's more secure, but ugh it is also a frikken faff! I just want to play my vidya!
So. As for the game itself - I can tell the graphics are better - everything is 900% more shiny than the 360 version, and when you meet Cassandra and Leliana, I could see actual sweat on my Inquisitor's face?? It was AMAZING. (I could also grok that that IS a scar on Solas' chin straight off*, and see that Varric has chest hair! WHO KNEW!)
I am going to have to restart, however, since I pressed the wrong button, and therefore my Inquisitor has the wrong name. She has one of the default names, and I like it, but I wanted to replay as my OG Inquisitor, and the default name is not her name. This exact thing happened the first time I ever played, so. Nice to know I'm repeating myself.
Also playing in winter is super nostalgic for some reason? I got the game in Jan 2015 as an early birthday present and, IDK, I just felt this warm fuzzy glow when I started playing. Which was pleasant, given I have many negative feelings about the game due to some of the narrative/certain writers who shall remain nameless/some people on tumblr back in 2015.
I have now loaded my world state so that Alistair is still a warden (primarily because I think it's the best outcome for him, story-wise, and also because this was the world state I used Back In Th'Day). For some reason, a while back, I didn't think I'd be able to access my DA Keep account ever again, so was resigned to never seeing Alistair as a warden again, and it's just not true. I've literally been on it this morning! Dunno what was up with that, brain.
I am also intrigued to know if this will give me nightmares about bears again. I had them for several years, up until fairly recently (when, I guess, I started dreaming about the Xenomorph, or Mr X instead), and I definitely think it's DA:I's fault. So thanks for that, Bioware.
I don't think I have anything else to say right now. Probably for the best, since this is a bit disjointed anyway.

*I initially thought he had a dimple in his chin - I do, my dad did, it's not unheard of. But nope, I was misled thanks to lower quality graphics**.
**I'd forgotten about everyone referring to Lego Hair for the lowest graphics settings, but I saw mention of it on an old reddit post and immediately started laughing because yes, that's absolutely what it looks like.
