1. Comment on this entry saying Rhubarb!, and I'll pick three things from your profile interests. If you don't have any listed, link your intro post or tags, and I'll choose three of your fandoms or other interests you've mentioned.
2. Make a post in your journal or comment here and talk about the words or phrases I picked!
The following things were picked for me: linguistics, crafts, and roleplaying games
Linguistics: welp. I like words, and I like the study of words. I did up to A-level English language, and I think I could've gone on to do a degree and been relatively okay with it, but in other ways I'm glad I didn't. I like all languages, and I find them fun to speak, and to learn about what transliterations mean, and why they're like that, and where words come from.
Crafts: I grew up with a creative mother, and it would not be wrong to say she passed that creativeness onto me. She was very interested in a lot of arts and crafts, although I mostly remember her doing embroidery and cross stitching (she did sometimes draw, but that was very rarely).
She used to get craft kits to try things out, and she also used to get me kids' versions, so I could have a go at stuff, too. Fr'ex, I had a weaving kit, a sewing kit, a printing kit, and a kit to make perfumes! We also had a lot of books that were about different kinds of things, and I always found those interesting to look through. It was one of these books that I learnt to crochet from.
Also: I used to be self-employed making crocheted and knitted things (though more crocheted, as I literally only learnt to purl in the last ten years, so my knitting skills aren't amazing).
Role-playing games: I like both kinds! As in TTRPGs, or as in RPGs on your console/computer.
I got into TTRPGs with Vampire: The Masquerade when I was but 20 or so. I didn't fully understand it because the nearest encounter I'd had with TTRPGs until then was other kids at school playing D&D, and I didn't really know what that was! (imagine that, right). It wasn't until I picked up and played FFVII at the tender age of 23, that it finally clicked for me how V:tM worked as a game.
I played in an online Matrix RPG, back in 2003, on a bulletin board (hands up who remembers those) and it was one of the most fun experiences I ever had (even if we did have one of the biggest edgelord to ever edgelord playing with us). That's, sadly, the only live experience I've had of playing an RPG, because most of my offline friends aren't into that sort of thing, and I never really thought about it much in recent years until things like Critical Role were happening.
RPGs are my favourite genre of vidya, although I will play other things as well (I am a sucker for puzzle games, but this was not about that!) I prefer JRPGs to WRPGs in general, but that doesn't mean I won't play WRPGs.

I won't do the second one, but I heard you like the Matrix movies, so talk about how you got into them and why you like them so much! Did you watch the first film in theaters and waited with anticipation for the sequels? Or did you get into the series when the movies were all already out?

Hahahahaha, oh my god, you know you're going to get an essay in response to that, don't you? ;)

...now I've got to go away and think about what I'm going to say!

Questions:
Is there a piece of media that you go to when you need comfort?
If you could design your ideal video game, what would it be like?
What is the most frustrating aspect of games? The most rewarding? The aspect that brings you the most joy?
What's your favorite season? Why?
Are you a pet person? If so, what would be your ideal pet
(also lol. Man, I knew a Matrix edgelord back on LJ and I was so glad when I lost touch with him. Some people are ridiculous.)

(also sorry if I duped any from your entry on this meme)
Thank you for the questions, that is some real food for thought!
Heh. I don't know what it is about the Matrix fandom, but I STG it attracts some of the edgiest edgelords.
no subject
IDK either. I'm not much of a fandom person, but if I had been, I would have run screaming from the Matrix fandom. I really do wonder what those edgelords think about the fact that one of the Wachowski sisters came out and said that the movies are a trans allegory, though.
no subject
Yeah, I'm glad the parts of the fandom I interacted with were okay. But I'm actually glad I don't know the edgelords' opinions about what the film is actually about (somehow I've avoided Hot Takes™ about it, and I'm not sure how).

In the meantime I'm gonna think on some good questions to ask for your January meme!

Hehehe, thank you!
