play! all! the games!
So you know how I was watching Luke from Outside Xtra play Bloodborne, and after a bit I was like, "this is totally not my bag; I'm going to stop watching it"?
Yeah.
I ended up watching him play pretty much all of it. In fact, I think the only streams I missed were two when I went back to work. I didn't catch myself up on them because I wasn't that bothered.
Anyway, on Thursday, Luke beat Bloodborne! And I am very pleased for him that he did! Beating games is awesome! However, my biggest gripe is that I still don't know WTF the actual story is (I know bits and pieces from reading up about bosses and so on online). It reminded me in some ways of Skyrim - I like that game to some extent, but it isn't because of the story. My biggest beef is that the plot is pretty much non-existent. Well, in Bloodborne it just...doesn't exist at all. (I'm probably going to end up watching one of those lore explainer videos on yt, and Luke is doing a discussion stream tomorrow, so I'll probably pick some stuff up there. But I like it when the story is apparent in my game!)
I don't know why those sorts of games are popular, but I guess I am not the intended audience!
~
Talking of video games, I found a bunch of PC and Xbox 360 games at work and it was, creepily, pretty much my collection of games, plus Bioshock 2/Infinite, and Fallout 3. There was even The Last Remnant and Kingdoms of Amalur in there!
Anyway, there was also a terrible looking/sounding video game called Quantum Theory, about which I can't find a lot online, except that it has a terrible Metacritic score (37/100), and Laura Bailey does a voice in it ♥
I ended up getting it because I'm intrigued by the premise that the surroundings warp to match your gameplay, and also it's set in a BIG EFFIN' TOWER, so it's All Upstairs From Here, and if there's one thing I like in video game, it's BIG EFFIN' TOWERS. (viz: FFXII and Persona 3)
I have zero expectations for it. According to the user reviews on Metacritic, it's a Gears of War rip-off, but I haven't played (and probably will never play) Gears of War, so we're all good!
(also it's a shooter, so this will provide some lols considering how bad I am at that sort of game. Mass Effect is the nearest I got to a shooter, and I'm terrible at that).
I also got the PC version of ME3 so I can rip the audio and cry every time I hear Legion ask if this unit has a soul.

And finally, some more FFV news!
I've been dumping a bit of time into it in the evenings after work, and last night I just got through Drakenvale, so I am now around halfway through the game! Everyone is level 26. Bartz is still a knight, Galuf is still a Mystic Knight, Faris is a dragoon because why not, and Lenna is back to being a white mage (she was a red mage for a while but, even though they're one of my favourite classes, they outlive their usefulness fairly quickly).
Bartz is currently equipped with the Dancing Dirk, which I think may be my favourite weapon in the entire game. When it does something useful, like Sword Dance, or Mesmerising Waltz works on an enemy. I think I gave it to Lenna in one playthrough, but I can't properly remember, since it was a long time ago.
The Dragon Pod boss fight at the end of Drakenvale was a slog and a half. Bloody status effects! (Or maybe, don't do boss fights when you're tired?) Oh, and it confusing Bartz and then him casting Raise on it when I'd already KO'ed it didn't help (everyone was status effects and I only had one healer which was FUN). I managed it in one go but oh boy it took forever.
Anyway, back to Bal Castle after this and then I can't remember what happens next!
Yeah.

Yeah, I can't understand it either: I am here for the story when I play games. Probably the last game I played that was light on story was a Tomb Raider game, but even that had a story in it. I felt sad when my favorite nephew told me he didn't like RPGs, because I had hoped to share my love for them with him.
Dragon Pod is one of the hardest bosses in FFV, in my opinion; I rather hate it myself, though I was lucky enough to be able to cheese the fight with my Fiesta team this year. I can't think of a way to cheese it with your party setup. Congrats on the win!

There is no way to cheese it with my current set up, but the FF wiki says any attacks that are multi hit are good, which I wish I'd thought about going in (but I'd completely wiped its existence from my memory).
