I finally finished watching that Earthbound LP I started watching back last year! And then I put on an LP of the GBA version of FFV, since [personal profile] lassarina had mentioned that it has a better translation than the PSX version (which is the only version I own).

It has been so long since I played (back before 2010!) that I can't really remember much of anything. So I can't even compare the translation differences, but knowing what the other ones are like (I've also got I, II, IV, and VI for PSX), I can see that this is an improvement.

I did consider getting a copy for myself, but I'd rather buy IV, and I can do art/creative stuff while watching someone else play.

Anyway, I'm a day late on the Post Once A Day meme:

[personal profile] thenicochan asks: Who is your favorite FFXII character/ship?

CAPTAIN BASCH FON RONSENBERG OF DALMASCA.

*ahem*

Um, yeah. I've got nothing else on that, really. He is a combination of some tropes I like, and yeah, that's it.

As for ships, I don't really have any any more? I used to ship Basch and Penelo, and also Fran and Balthier, but I just don't now (I don't know why possibly lack of fandom involvement/I got old and boring).

The end of the video game meme!

26 - Best voice acting

Ugh, I don't know! Most games with voice acting are pretty good these days!

27 - Most epic scene ever

That depends on how you define epic? Again, I really don't know. There's a lot of good scenes in a lot of games I've played, but I don't know that I'd define any of them specifically as epic.

28 - Favorite game developer

Probably Squeenix, since I own the most games produced/published by them. I don't even do it on purpose, I swear! Apart from the Final Fantasies, all the other Squeenix games were mostly coincidence! Except for The Last Remnant. I totally bought that one on purpose.

29 - A game you thought you wouldn't like, but ended up loving

The Last Remnant. Mostly because I thought I would hate Rush, but I ended up liking him. And I thought that the fighting mode would be awful and yeah, it kind of is, because the RNG of that game hates me, but I kind of like it as well?

Final Fantasy XII. Because keep your MMO style battlings out of my turn based RPGs, thanks. Except that I ended up liking it. Apart from when someone goes off on one because you either set their gambits up wrong, or you can't change them *glares at Reddas*

Final Fantasy XI. Because I didn't like Zidane at first but he improves. And I like the "learning skills from armour/weapons" thing. And the character designs. And the world designs.

Tactics Advance: I really don't like strategy games. My idea of strategy is to throw my team at an enemy and see what happens (ask me about the first boss fight in FFI). And yet, I really like this one. There is item crafting! Learning skills from armour/weapons! And Ivalice! (ofc). I really, really like the character/creature/monster designs. The music is a delight.

Though I wouldn't say any of these are "love" specifically, apart from the second one, because:

30 - Your favorite game of all time

FINAL FANTASY XII.

No competition.

Well, maybe some. IV was my favourite for a loooong time, and even after I'd immersed myself in XII/the whacky world of Ivalice for a few years, but slowly, slowly, slowly, XII edged it out.

I love the world, the lore, (most of) the characters, the visuals, the way it plays (apart from several specific boss fights). It's just *chef's kiss*

The PSX version of FFV (which is also the one I have) has a abysmal translation. Faris' pirate speak is incomprehensible and her true names gets translated as 'Salsa'. Princess Salsa. How spicy.

Basch is amazing.<3
