this post made more sense in my head

I said over on Twitter that I might work on my webcomic idea over Xmas (since I've got 16 days off, which is the most ever!), but I'm actually being sidelined by another idea I keep tinkering with. A few years ago, I invented a few worlds, with some people to go in them, and I'd just make things up for them as they came to me. One world I like more than the others, because it's got a Middle Eastern influence and a talking tiger, so...yeah... And because I've been messing about with pixels, I wondered if pixelling some of that might start me off doing something more concrete with it.

(Actually, there's some stuff on my reblog blog I should check back on because this whole thing is the reason I reblogged those things. Also maybe look at writing prompts for a more solid idea of how the world works).

ETA: Mum said I should read Dune for Things In A Desert inspiration and...I really don't want to? I get that it's a sci-fi classic and everything but I just don't want to. I suppose, if I find the book (I know we have it - we also have several of the sequels, I saw them the other weekend when I was doing shelves and books on shelves), I should just flick through it and see what I think.

If you have any Things In A Desert that might be inspirational to me, that would be lovely? (It can even be music, music is gooooooood!)
(This why I went to Prince of Persia, below, it made sense to me). [/eta]

Also I've been thinking about getting the PS2 Prince of Persia games (like I need more games to not finish), and it turns out I can get the entire trilogy from my local CEX for the princely (ho ho) sum of £3 \o/ I swore I wouldn't buy anything next time I was near there (because bill paying YAY), but three quid isn't going to make THAT much of a dent (although granted it's three quid that could've gone towards DA:I). I can also get the Xbox one for £3, but since it's supposed to follow on from the PS2 games, I thought I'd play them first and see how I do with them??? *shrugs*

And apparently the soundtracks are really nifty so yay?

I keep thinking about this mad post I want to make about The Fault in Our Stars but I'm going to leave it at this:

It is the single most patronising YA book I've ever had the misfortune to read (and I've read some awful books in my time, YA, kids', and adult). I don't even think I've read an adult book that patronising and sneering. It's readable. I kept going in spite of wanting to throw it against the wall repeatedly because his base style is engaging. I got to the worst part, and was all, "Oh god, this is THAT book" (which it is. Yeah).

And I just. This book oozes smugness. And that whole HERE'S A CLEVER THING LOOK THIS THING IS CLEVER AND I DID IT DO YOU SEE THAT?! that I find present in a lot of recent films I've seen and it drives me nuts. There's plenty of ways to be clever without a) pointing it out and b) not being patronising about it. I think if you need to point out that you've been clever, it's a bit like explaining the joke. Just imho, though.

So that's pretty much it.

I didn't like this book and I think its author is a prick.

Good luck with your webcomic and pixelling and other creative things. I'm not sure if I have any Things in a Desert inspirations unfortunately.

I remember playing Sands of Time on the gamecube ♥ it was a pretty fun game I must say but I never finished it lmao.

Oh gosh, The Fault in Our Stars. I actually may like John Green for some part (from his youtube videos) but I've never read his books completely because the bits I did read seem so very pretentious.
