Gosh man, I have a whole bunch of unpopular opinions about Mass Effect. I'm reminded of them most times when I browse ME tumblrs. I'm currently browsing ME tumblrs because I can, and I'm in a really bad mood.
~ I find Joker/EDI really creepy. And it's worse second time around (yes, this is only the second time I've played it. I find it traumatic, OK?) The way he leers and stares at her and that tone in his voice? That's not romantic, that's downright disturbing.
~ Talking of which, I dislike Joker. Intensely.
~ I really like EDI, OK, but I don't like the design of her robot body, nor that she seems (to me) to be designed for the male gaze. (I mean dang, she should've at least had the opportunity to customise her body because, let's not forget, she's essentially walking around naked, where when the body was Eva Coré's she wasn't. Or is that being unfair because I can't just let a robot be a robot?)
~ I have similar thoughts about Miranda (who I also dislike. Intensely). Also I find her voice actress really irritating.
~ I dislike Thane. Intensely.
~ The first game is my favourite. I don't see why everyone raves about 2, and I find three traumatic (as noted. I like that it's more like the original, however, but the way the camera whips about makes me feel travel sick).
~ I think romancing Jack is really wrong.
~ I don't understand the obsession with Tali. I like her, but honestly I don't get it.
~ I prefer the first Normandy, and Alliance!SR-2 kind of makes up for it, although it still foozles me when things aren't where I think they should be.
~ I don't like Kai Leng (although does ANYONE?)
~ I love driving in the Mako, because that shit is unreal. Also the handling is SHOCKING but OH SO MUCH FUN.
~ I don't get Shepard/Garrus. I find it kind of weird.
~ Um, there's probably more, but I can't think of them right now. I realise that someone could turn these back on me, and that's fair enough.

(I just finished Sur'Kesh in game. Trying to avoid Tuchanka (for obvious reasons) like the plague for the time being, but all the other sidequests seem to involve planet-scanning which will attract Reapers and arrrrgghhh external screaming).

I enjoy Thane, but I prefer Garrus. (When given the choice I will probably take the turian option.) For me, Shepard/Garrus is about the buddy-soldier snark, but that's just me.
Yeah, EDI's "o hi body nao" sort of distresses me :(

No, I know exactly what you mean about buddy soldier snark, but for me it's only at friends level and no further than that.
It's DISTURBING. I would rather have kept EDI as a disembodied voice.
