So I've been playing Mass Effect for the third time (or not in save files are anything to go by) with my Renegade Shep, Ras. I started doing it as a means to blow off some steam. I can be horrible to virtual people and I'm not hurting anyone except maybe myself because I did some REALLY HORRIBLE THINGS. I killed Shiala! I killed all the colonists in Zhu's Hope! I killed the Rachni Queen! I did absolutely no side quests! I didn't take Garrus or Liara anywhere (not that that matters, but it was weird). I killed Ashley! (Oh. Wait. I always do that. The only reason she's around in Lucas' game in ME2 is that I don't have Genesis, so automatic bad routes for him. My male Sheps are all going to have THE WORST DAY EVER when they get to ME3*). Weirdly, though, I saved the council, because I'd forgotten Zoe had done that in her game.
(Oh hey, but, somehow I saved Wrex by renegade persuading him? I deliberately didn't go after his family amour, because I knew that equalled automatic save (I don't know if not going after Dr Saleon does/doesn't do anything for Garrus?) so I thought he'd have to die. Which. Of all the horrible decisions I had to make, bwaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh ;_; nooooooo. Wrev'll show up in Lucas' game, and prob ME3!Shep's, however).
And then because I didn't feel like playing Ras through 2 and 3, I whacked 3 in the Xbox so I could finish up with Zoe. And you know how the import bug is supposed to be fixed? It isn't, entirely. She looks the more or less the same, but still kind off to me (I checked in 2 to make sure), and it didn't load her hairstyle correctly. I did try googling about it this morning, but didn't dig too deep, and the first batch of results are from when the game first came out.
Eh, I'll either figure it out, or I'll have to load up 1/2 and take phone photos to refer to with the character creator in 3.
So yeah. Zoe. Have I ever mentioned how traumatic this game is? I only just finished Mars/first visit to the Citadel, and my nerves are all on edge (thanks, Bioware). Also bwahhhhhhh I legit jumped when Kaidan got his arse kicked again. I knew it was coming this time!
Beating James up will never get old, though :D
(Also I know I didn't save everyone - save file said eight people survived, and the only ones I can remember who died are Miranda and Thane (I killed Thane on purpose. I don't like him, what did you expect? Zoe isn't a purebred Paragon like Nev) ).

*I dread to think how ME3 generated Shep's game is going to go. Horribly, I should imagine.

1) No, the Dr Saleon thing has no tangible effect other than locking you out of some conversations with Garrus. He basically learns to be either more renegade or more paragon, or neither from you depending on how you talk to him throughout the game and you can't do this if you don't deal with Saleon. However. This has absolutely no effect on his behaviour or dialogue in 2 or 3.
2) Wrex! Right, yeah, basically doing this armour quest = automatic save. If you don't do his armour quest the scene escalates and it triggers a Charm/Intimidate check. If you pass it, he agrees to back down. You can do it with either Charm or Intimidate. If you don't have enough either way, then you either kill him yourself, signal to Ashley to kill him, or do neither and Ashley kills him anyway, at which point you can thank her or yell at her for doing it.
3) The creator + the hairstyles? I don't know which hairstyle you have but it's possible that it might not exist in ME3. It's frustrating but not every one of them does. One of my Shepards had a ponytail and while her face imported find, I had to pick another hairstyle for her because that one was no longer available. Even default FemShep (the ME1 + 2 version) doesn't import that great. The bob hairdo's parting shifts from one side to another, the fringe sweeps back a little differently, and the hair shade either gets lightened to strawberry blonde or darkened from ginger to blood red.
4) In the one where 8 people survived, did you have Zaeed and Kasumi? If you didn't have the DLC installed then maybe only 2 of them did die? If you did have them installed, you don't necessarily get death scenes for everyone. If the backup squad dies, or the person you send back with the crew dies, for instance, sometimes you just hear about it briefly from EDI. That might be why you missed it?
5) Nooooo, Thane precious, we will take all your Thane if you do not want him... :p
Aaaaand this is knowledge you accumulate when you're working on an epic Mass Effect clipping project. *facepalm* ;)

1) Ahhh, that's interesting. I usually renegade Garrus, because that's what he responds best to (although I guess paragonning him teaches him better tactics??? Pfft, applying real life logic to video games what the hell is that???!!)
2) Mm, I knew the armour was an automatic save, because I ALWAYS make sure to do it in case I somehow don't accrue enough persuade points (usually I don't, so that I had enough this time was weeeeeird). I love Wrex to bits, so not having him is kind of upsetting :(
3) I think, remembering what I did on the character creator, is that there seem to be two hairstyles with buns, and I don't know if both were available in previous games, but it didn't even pick the wrong one - it just defaulted to bob hairdo. I wonder if it was accidentally given a different code or something during ME3's creation?
4) I had Zaeed, but not Kasumi (I've never had the spare cash for her DLC *sadface*). I know now that Miranda, Mordin, and Thane are dead (I killed Thane on purpose, Mordin was an accident, and Miranda a surprise). I don't know who the fourth one is, although I keep thinking it's Zaeed (although I haven't triggered his encounter on the Citadel yet, so I don't know for sure). I could check the ME2 save file from the end of the game, but switching discs for 3 is annoying enough and I'm lazy :D
5) Sorry. I just...something about his character rubs me the wrong way and also, because I know he was deliberately designed to appeal to women - well, I don't have the same tastes as the majority of women, so...he just does nothing for me. You can have all the Thane you want. If I could excise him from my game, I would! ;)
IT IS AWESOME KNOWLEDGE AND I AM JEALOUS THAT YOU KNOW IT.

1) I mostly just like that you CAN affect his opinions of things, so it's a shame it didn't really hold over in any way. But I guess they have to cut their losses with so much programming.
2) Yeah, not having Wrex is terrible, but does make for a wonderfully complicated mess of the Genophage plot in ME3. Actually, even destroying the data and the HUGELY different way Wrex treats you is fascinating. One of the best written parts of the trilogy, in terms of the way the meanings of events change depending on your choices, I think.
3) Nah, the bob hairdo is the default hairdo if you're making a custom Shepard. The one it starts on before you've picked anything. Mine went to that too. I think it's just not smart enough to know which other hairstyle is "closest". :(
4) DUDE, KASUMI! I think her DLC is pretty cheap by now, you should totally save up for it at some point! She's great fun and so is her mission. But if you didn't have her, that means you only had 11 squadmates, so if 8 survived then that means 3 died, and you know who they are.
Mordin is RIDICULOUSLY easy to get killed. Basically because if you pick ill-suited people or unloyal for various tasks it doesn't necessarily kill them, it can also result in other casualties on the squad, and Mordin is usually the FIRST on that list, if he's available to be killed. Which is why if you want him to survive, it's usually best to send him back with the survivors to the Normandy. As long as he's loyal, he'll survive and then be safe.
Miranda...is actually kinda hard to kill if she's loyal. But the ending is always a wild card because it tallies up like, the people you leave to hold the line, and assigns you a score based on whether it was a good idea to leave them there and whether they're loyal and uses that to determine how many team members are going to die, according to some arbitrary order. Again, Mordin is most likely, but I think Miranda is reasonably close to the start of the list. So if you had some of the others with you on your squad (which removes them from the list), or Miranda wasn't loyal, then...that's the place she's most likely to die anyway...
5) Ha, dude, there's no worries, I have my own pet hates and dislikes of characters too. ;) Besides you can settle it with your conscience when Kirrahe dies for that Salarian Councillor. :P

1) Oh yeah, that is good, and it's a nice touch. And possibly too subtle for most people (and I'm counting myself here!) to notice.
2) Oh brilliant! I am planning on destroying the cure on one run and lying about it on another (got to decide between Ras or Lucas for that...)
4) Yeah, I checked it out - it's about six quid or so now. I thought I might get hers and the Citadel DLC for my birthday (not long now, hee). But then I read about the Leviathan DLC and that sounds SO INTERESTING and I want that, too. But yeah, I want to see Kasumi, and she just sounds interesting, too.
Yeah, he is. He's so so squishy. I think he died a lot on missions I took him on, so I may have figured it out from there before I check for certain on the internet. When I played through ME2 first, it was with Zoe, so I didn't know what the hell I was doing, and I deliberately didn't look up anything to do with the Suicide Mission, and decided to live with my decisions. I actually thought it was awesome seeing Padok in 3, and the different things he says in comparison to Mordin (and I was sad when he died, because I liked him).
I always lose Miranda's loyalty - I never have enough persuade points, and I always support Jack over her. I think I left her on the front lines and took so long fighting the Human Reaper (because I didn't know what I was doing), that it triggered her death but no-one else's. I think I put her there because she kept saying she was hot shit, so I wanted her to prove it.
5) OH GOD I JUST DID THAT BIT. Bwaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. Poor Kirrahe :(
