Looking for a reason to carry on playing DA:O. I think I'm a bit burnt out on it. Either that, or it's really not engaging me as much as I think it should.

(I mean, in ways, it is engaging me, and I want to go through all the variations and blah because that's one thing I like about Bioware games, but it's really not grabbing me by the balls like Mass Effect did).

That, and I was listening to the Mass Effect soundtrack earlier, and I suddenly thought, "Ho shit, I LOVE this game! Why have I only played it one and a half times nearly a year ago and not since?!"

Because I'm an idiot, that's why.

However, it turns out I am too lazy to dig the game discs out, even for my space boyfriend. Sigh.

I love DA:O, mostly cause I like to listen to Claudia Black talk to me. And to have sex and make out with her... uh yep. But it is kinda tiring sometimes. I'm pretty far in right now. And I died strangely so i gave it a break for a couple days. :)

I'd love her more if she wasn't being sarcastic Aeryn all the time (which, don't get me wrong, I love sarcastic Aeryn, but not on someone who's clearly not Aeryn). If she didn't talk, I'd keep her around, because she's a lovely piece of eye candy but...I dunno. Might give her another chance next time I play.

Also there are worse reasons to play games, you know. Making out with Kaidan is the only reason I play Mass Effect ;)

that's funny I don't hear aeryn at all when she talks. But I have used her since she's been in my group. I always bring her and the dog. and i swap between my 4th. Mostly Slade now cause he's a BAMF.

Weird. Maybe it's just me (probably. I mean, really, my only experience of Claudia is as Aeryn. So. Yeah). I will have to give her another chance.

Ha, I always take Dog, too! He helped me win a boss fight just the other day.

YES, the dog stays alive better then the rest. He's super good. It's like they miss hitting him or something.

I had this problem with DAO a lot.

....I'm tempted to be terrible and say just finish it for the DA2 imports (I love DA2 like a loving thing and started a second game the minute I finished it) but there is some gorgeous stuff in DAO, it just. Drags for me sometimes.

Mass Effect ♥ We just got 3 and are playing it, and oh gosh all the characters make me squeak and flail my hands frantically.

I've logged forty hours so far. I *think* I'm near the end, but I'm really not sure - at Denerim for the Landsmeet (eventually). I think part of the problem is that, while there's only a small amount of places to be completed in order to finish the story, compared to Mass Effect, the areas seem to be very, very long. Which is pretty much what you were saying with it dragging. It really DOES.

I am going to finish it for imports (because I *do* want imports, eventually, if only to see how it affects the next part of the story. I love that Bioware implement that, and it appears in more than one series). But I'm giving it a break right now, I think.

I seriously love ME1 like cake. I'm going to play 2 eventually (and stick with it this time. I didn't give it enough of a chance last time. I want to play mostly for Legion. And Shepard's story, obviously. But mostly Legion).

Yeah, the fact that each individual area is very long definitely contributes to the dragging. And yeah, if you're at Denerim for the Landsmeet, then you are very nearly done!

I made the paladin play the first two ME games for me and now he's playing 3, but I think I'll give them a try myself even though I'm terrible terrible awful balls at shooters. I need more Garrus in my life.

ME's the first shooter I've ever played, and I suck balls at them. By the end, I'd got the hang of it though as, to me, it doesn't seem to have a steep learning curve with either guns or tactics. I'm starting the learning curve again, having not played for so long (but I remember more than I think, so that's OK! The concept of taking cover's once again beyond me, however). Sorry, kind of blathered a bit there.

It's good to know that the tactics aren't too bad. I also have issues with the taking of cover. What do you mean I can't just charge in slinging Firaga and expect everything to die? What do you mean I don't GET Firaga? I do not approve.

Are you sure you're not me? ;) I do that ALL the time. I am the worst kind of gamer because I never consider tactics, just charge in guns blazing (I also happen to button bash when playing fighting games. I am tempted to wonder if this is related). Sometimes even without purchasing armour first (this is what happened when I played FF1 the first time. And then I wondered why Chaos killed my party outright...D'oh).

Well, see, I learnt to play games with Final Fantasy, where (Tactics excepted) there is no good reason not to charge in guns blazing. This has been tragic when I played Atlus games ;;

I also button-mash in fighting games. Trying to memorize and pull off button combos while I'm panicking is doomed to failure.

I do that even in Tactics. Strategy is for wimps! ;) But yes, Atlus games always end badly (their hardness aside, lol).

Exactly! My best mate used to spend days in front of the PSX memorising combos just so she could thrash me. I'd maybe learn one or two moves for my fave characters, but not an entire string. Too much like hard work! ;)

Me too. I know I wouldn't last five minutes playing on hard. But yeah, Bioware games (and most others with the option) are for playing on easy. I mean, maybe I might try the harder difficulties when I'm more familiar to the game but till then? Never.
