a mystery unravelling

HAPPY NEW YEAR, YOU LOVELY PEOPLE!

Today I actually acted on some advice I had been given re: art. To that end, I enlarged and redrew two recent doodles, and inked them.

I would've had them scanned and banged flat colours on them, and put them on my website to offer as prints, but. Um. I didn't have time as it happens, since I got distracted by my external hard drive (heh) and various other things.

At least I did what I intended to do, and that was good! 2012 can continue like that if it wants to!

On the other hand, I cut my left thumb on a tin can and then managed to spray myself with the gravy from my cat's wet food. I really hope 2012 does not continue in that vein because...no.

I can't really think of resolutions. I have general intentions - like getting up earlier, so I can work longer if I need to (or have more time to arse about in the evenings ;) ) But there's nothing I've absolutely resolved to do.

Heh, actually:

- Post photos when I say I will
- Post more regular picspams from stuff uploaded to the sketch blog
- To come off my anti depressants

Annette gave me some yarn that she thought she wouldn't use yesterday (ha, it was kind of like a giftswap, actually, because I had stuff to give her). It included this absolutely gorgeous merino/viscose mix that was black with a gold cast on it. IT IS SO SOFT! And that description doesn't really do it any justice. I should take a picture.

Also she took me to Bombay Stores, in Bradford, because everyone's been telling me all my life about how wonderful it is, and yet no-one ever took me there. So that was what happened. I loved looking at all the clothes and the jewellery (and, even though I wasn't the only white person there, I felt totally out of sorts, but I always do. Much as I love Chinese cash and carries, same thing happens there. I suppose it's 'cause I'm neither Chinese nor Indian). ANYWAY. I could've spent a small fortune (or at least maxed out my credit card) in the supplies department. There were so many beautiful things (and useful ones, too, but mostly beautiful).

I was surprised to see that I wasn't fazed by the prices (want a spangly dress for your wedding? Ready to pay £1300+? OK THEN). I mean, considering that they were all handmade (and gods, the man hours that must've gone into them. I was agog). They were AMAZING. There was one wedding dress, encrusted in all these jewels. It should've looked awful, but it was amazing (I wish I could've taken a photo, but there were these big signs all over saying NO PHOTOS TO BE TAKEN IN STORE).

Uh. Yeah. So that was fun, and how I spent some of my last day of 2011 (Annette also gave me a massive compliment on my art, and that kind of made my day).

Now to go and look up pictures on the interwebs!
