OK, so this is really not that massive a post, but it's a post to show what I'm on about when I talk about yarnbending. Like I've mentioned before, I'm kind of embarrassed by it, but that's thanks to my upbringing and the way my brain works (don't ask).

If you want to know why I've been babbling on about yarn, here's your answer!

Everything here is crocheted. You see, I used to think it was only done by grannies and involved making doilies and blankets. Turns out, not so much - this is the technique I'm using to design dolls (as mentioned on my twitter), but I haven't got very far with that yet, and the pics aren't on my computer).

So here's some other stuff:

This cat is actually about nine months old? I forget exactly when I made him. Anyway, I was really surprised how quickly he was made, and how his colouring turned out. I think he is where my love of dip/space dyed yarn came from. I love the way it stripes itself and, even if I made the same pattern (which is not mine, by the way), with the same yarn, the result would be different.

Recently I made a scarf for Jackie, because she traded me some carpet wool for it (I could totally get into trading!)

The colours are much more vivid in real life. Jackie loved the result (which is longer than I am tall. For reference, I'm five foot four inches). I kind of struggled with the tassles because I'd never made them before, but I am happy with how they came out.

All this totally makes me wish I'd been more into textiles at school (again, don't ask), and that I'd gone to more than three textiles classes at college. But eh. Maybe if I had, I wouldn't be here now.

By the way, yarnbending can also be knitting - which is what the person who made the term up was using it to refer to. I just nicked it because I am AtlA nerd and I thought it sounded hilarious.
