My final thoughts on Clair Obscur; DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE CREDITS!
Bullet points, because what is coherency anyway?
# I didn't need convincing, but I absolutely know I am bisexual, because I have a crush on both Verso and Sciel.
(Took me a while to warm up to Verso, though, whereas with Sciel almost immediately I was like, "DAMN YOU'RE HOT").
# I like that neither ending is happy and neatly wrapped up. I feel like Verso's ending is the better of the two, but neither of them are good - nobody wins here, and that's just like real life in a lot of cases.
# I wouldn't normally find myself saying this, because I have difficulty dealing with themes of death, but I'm glad it's a game about grief and how you deal with it (or don't). Escapism is fine, but you can't let it rule your life.
# Related: I think the complaints about the story changing tack once you hit act 3 are unjustified - I think it works AND I'd almost certainly add that maybe the complainers are perhaps lucky enough to have not lost an immediate family member.
# As noted previously, this game made me cry a lot.
# At first I got thrown out of the game because I kept noticing which games it was influenced, and my list so far is: FFIX, FFX, Lost Odyssey, and Nier (first game for some of the environments, Automata for the music - I feel like the Gestral village music wants so badly to be Pascal's Village, and I found that slightly grating).
# Also talking of the music, there's a leitmotif that I STG is going to resolve into Promise from Silent Hill 2, and it never does, and it's annoying.
# I am going to buy the soundtrack!
# Now I want to replay both FFX and Lost Odyssey.
# OMG SO MANY MIMES. I don't think I even saw all of them.
# I don't know as I have anything else right now - I should have written this a few days ago, but I've been tired/migraine-y/At Work, so it kind of fell by the wayside (whoops)
