So, basically, me and
dreximgirl get annoyed by how much Hollywood fucks with X-Men canon when they make films*.
But I tell you this much: I can deal with their fuckery better than I can with what Joe Quesada et al. have done to the comics in recent years (seriously, so much so I have had to stop reading. I love the X-Men, and I've made it through some shitty story lines***, but the whole Civil War thing just fucked me off no end. Why yes, I may be re-reading in coming days to re-clarify why to myself - this may result in fanart or fic. I make no promises either way).
And that's basically all I have to say, really. This may become more protracted once I get to rereading. I don't know. I mean, there are various things that have niggled me, but that happens with all comics (like I said earlier, recent events in Hellblazer better turn out to be a HUGE plot device or I won't be that happy with DC, either****).
Well, that, and I watch the films because I could listen to Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen for years and not get bored of either of them. And Hugh Jackman and Famke Janssen are rather yummy. Oh, and I could probably watch Brian Cox (no, not THAT one!) in anything. None of that stops me raging when things are "wrong" though (see: Nightcrawler for my best example. He's not the only one, but he's the first I think of off the top of my head).
I better stop this before it becomes an incoherent mess. Because that's the way it's going.

*OK, yeah, I've ranted about this in other guises, too. Hollywood rarely makes a film that glues itself to canon's side. When it does, you get Watchmen, and the main gripe with that so I believe was that it was TOO like the comic**. The internet is an Unpleasable Fanbase.
**That's what I heard, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
***The Arena was, until Civil War, my standard for shitty. Yeah.
****Hell, who am I kidding, I heard about the Batman reboot. I'm already not happy with them.
