don't forget about me, okay? ♥
I am a very tired bean, because I've just worked four days in a row, and it is more hours than I can feasibly work at once, and I don't like it. Also I keep waking up up to an hour before my alarm goes off, which doesn't help with the tired. (Hilariously today is a day off and I woke at 5am because what is my brain).
Anyway: this is going to sound unrelated, but it isn't. I bought Monster Hunter: World and Persona 5 (og version) on Saturday before I got to work. Because I have very few PS4 games, and they were two I wanted.
Then on Monday evening, I wanted to play one of them, but I was too tired to actually sit on the sofa and do so. So I took my TV and my PS4 to my room, hooked everything up, plugged it in, and laid down in bed to play video games.
I haven't done this in years, so it feels super nostalgic.
I got about an hour into P5. And it was okay, so I thought I'd carry on playing it. I played some more after work yesterday and then, as I mentioned, I woke SUPER EARLY this morning, wondered what to do, briefly, and then turned the PS4 on and played some more!
I'm only about five or so hours in (so mid-April, which is hilarious to me as it is currently: mid April. The last time this happened was when I played P3 for the first time in the year it's set in). And I am tired, so I don't think I have a lot of thoughts but we'll see!
I like being in a city, especially it being Tokyo, after P4 having been set in Inaba. I do like a small town as a setting - heck I live in a small town - but IDK it's nice to have a city setting again?
It's finally good to be able to play as Fluffy Meganekko Boy™! AFTER ALL THIS TIME! I know he has a name, but I remember when he didn't have one. Added to which, he'll always be Akira to me now, I don't care what his official name is according to the rhythm game :p
Also holy shit, is it just me, or is this game incredibly bleak? I mean, like, NONE of the SMT games are cheery (P4 is as cheery as you're going to get), but like P5 goes really hard and is just. Really leaning into "people are shitty" and not shying away from showing you why. I do appreciate it, but it's not what I expected going in (I mean, I knew there was going to be some of it but, OH BOY).
And the swearing, omg. I don't think I've ever seen so many swears in an SMT game/any video game I've ever played. I say this not because I am a scandalised Old Person, but just because I wasn't expecting it.
I have no real opinions about anyone except Ann. She deserves all the hugs. ALL OF THEM. Ryuji I should like - he's the typical character type that I like - but I'm not sure about him yet. I feel like I should hate Morgana, because they're a mascot character, but I don't? I just hope they don't turn out to be lewd like Teddy. Because I liked him till he was reduced down to being a lewd pile of grossness. I haven't met anyone else yet, so obviously I can't comment on them!
I like the P2 vibes I keep getting! And there is demon negotiation again! I can fail horribly at my favourite thing YET AGAIN!
Additionally: I'm going to download the Japanese voice track because I love that we have that option for games now! And I already downloaded the Super Hard Difficulty™ even though I will likely never play on it (I'm playing on Normal because I've never played an SMT game on Easy, and I've never done a higher difficulty than Normal. Maybe I should change that some time). I also downloaded the Casual clothes pack or whatever it is because YAY FREE DLC!
I think I like P5 so far, but also it's way too early to say yet.

Yeah, p5 is REALLY kind of "wow people are absolutely garbage aren't they?" it's interesting because (without getting into spoilers) I feel like the game is fundamentally about hope, and about the fact that some people choose to be better the same as some people choose to be garbage, but it has some interesting things to say about people's choices and where we default.
