original stuff: pied piper
About a year ago, I wrote a version of the Pied Piper, and I found it again recently. Would you like to read it? Well, it's behind this cut, and it's very short, and it's totally up to you whether you do or not. It doesn't have a title, because I don't know what to call it.

One day, when the parents awoke, all the children were gone.
They should've known better than to hire the DJ from out of town, from the place nobody had ever heard of.
He had an eerie charm - most of the adults had noted - but he also had a barbed streak of cruelty. Not many of them had seen that, but nobody disbelieved anyone who had. It was almost as though you could tell, just from looking at him.
They'd treated him well, or so they'd thought.
The event he'd played at, where the majority of the children were, went well.
But perhaps it hadn't gone as well as he'd liked, and he'd taken the children as payment.
How he'd done it, they'd never know, but every single child in the town was gone. Had vanished overnight, almost as though they had never existed.
They were never seen again.

Notes: This was almost certainly inspired by something in one of the Changeling source books (I think there's either an NPC who has power over an audience via music or you can get that power for your character, but I'm leaning towards the NPC). That said, I've always been intrigued by the story of the Pied Piper.
Typing this up now, I half thought about rewriting it, but I don't know if I'll ever do that.
