Since mentioning Wesker in my post last night, I actually started thinking about his story as it unfolds through Resident Evils 1 -5 and...really it's fucking ridiculous and so is he.
(I know it's down to Capcom retconning here, there, and everywhere, but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous when you put it all together).

I just find it really hard to take some villainous characters seriously, and he's one of them. But the thing to remember is that this is just my opinion. And it's obviously different to yours from that :/ face you've given me. And that's OK, we're allowed differing opinions about things.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-13 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)No but seriously, the ":-/" face is just my curious face. And I understand what you said about the retcon that brought him back, but keep in mind that he wasn't infected by the T-Virus, but by a new strain of Progenitor. That's why he didn't transform into a monster luke the others, and that's not even the only time this happened in the series(both Alexia and Sergei could decide when to transform).
And yes, RE5 was a little over-the-top, but that's because it was the last game he would appear in, and he needed to go with a bang.
In my opinion, Wesker is best in Darkside/Umbrella Chronicles, and RE4. In those games he is not an over-the-top cliche comic-book villain like he was in RE5(and a little of CVX), but a calm, collected, and even polit, mastermind, acting behind the scenes like a puppetmaster. That's why I like him.
