Final thoughts (for now) about Silent Hill 2:

Toluca Prison is pretty much A Journey To The Centre of James' Mind. But I enjoyed it, and it's (nearly) where he gets what's going on. I think he's a lot closer to it by the end of that part, anyway.

Talking of which: I almost wish I didn't know where he was coming from. I sympathise with him, and I know where he's coming from, and I can almost see why he did what he did, and I kind of wish I didn't. It makes me feel very uncomfortable, which I'm sure the guys responsible for it would be very pleased to hear no doubt (no, I'm not seeking out Team Silent and telling them).

I'm now watching an 0rigins LP, and wondering what the point of it is. Although glad I didn't read spoilers, but then again saw a (so-called) plot point coming a mile off, so...? *shrugs* I mean, Travis doesn't have a point, as a character and, as is pointed out elsewhere, has little reason to remain in Silent Hill once he's left Alchemilla Hospital. I'm also not fond of the fact that Alessa looks like the film version of her good self (i.e. the actress who plays her) - not because I dislike the film (I'm mostly ambivalent about it) - but because Alessa already looked one way and...now she doesn't. (The game came out post-film and the LPer says the game's plot is like a bad fanfic).

But eh. This is from the same guys who wrecked SH1 by making made Shattered Memories*, so...yeah...**

I think the Sanatorium part (just got to the end of it) could have been utilised better (it is interesting, but you spend too long in too large an area doing fetch quests and, if you don't know when you need to switch to the Otherworld (because it's voluntary in this game), there's the potential to mess it up/spend far too long there.

I'm not super miffed by its existence and if there's people that like it, good for them, but I don't think that I'm ever going to be its biggest fan. (So pretty much, I feel the same as always about it. The music's good, though, but I love Akira Yamaoka, so that's kind of a given).

*I may watch this one next, I don't know yet. Might revert to SH3 :D

**I feel like because Climax are a British company I shouldn't shit on them about stuff but honestly? If they don't make good games, then why should I be nice?
