I never got to the dentist in the end. That's not to say that I didn't try. I caught the bus and everything.
HOWEVER.
Literally ten minutes before I caught the bus, there was an accident further down the road, involving a car and a pedestrian, and so the road was closed. Which obviously I didn't know. So I had to ring the dentist, cancel my appointment, and then walk two miles back into town so I could catch a bus home (didn't mind that bit, actually).
And now I don't know if my dentist will let me make another appointment. They have a system where, if you miss two appointments, or you cancel them with less than 24 hours to go (and do it twice), or any combo of those two options, that's it. You've had it. I already missed one appointment last summer, and this was counted as a late cancellation. So I had to write a letter explaining what had happened, and now I've got to cross my fingers that he takes that into account.
SIGH.
