infinite sunrise
This week, I have been mostly covering for my boss at work so I am knackered. I also had to walk the 2.75 miles (or whatever it is) home, as my bus home was cancelled when I nipped into town for errands on the one day off I had, and there was no way I was hanging around for (potentially) an hour to see if another one turned up.
The walk itself wasn't too bad, despite being uphill on a deceptive gradient, it's the after that's the problem. I've noticed in recent times that I don't recover so well from strenuous activities*, and my joints tend to be more crunchy/painful for some time after. Which is delightful. So I'm probably going to spend most of today playing video games, because I feel like shit still.
Talking of which! I had a craving to play FFXIII, because it's been a hot minute, and I never finished my last replay. However. Since having played on the PS3/4 a lot recently, I noticed my Xbox feels sluggish in comparison, with regard to the controller - I noticed this when switching from Dark Souls (360 version) to Dark Souls II (PS3). So I went and bought the PS3 version of FFXIII, although it rankles me to buy games I already own**. And while I was there, I finally caved on getting FFXV.
One reason I was putting it off was because I knew there were hella updates to install (33Gb!!) but, since playing Monster Hunter: World, and that installing me Loads of Updates™, I knew my internet could handle it.
So. I bit the bullet.
No spoilers, please! I know y'all don't need to be told this, but I'm saying it anyway. Like with P5, I have somehow managed to remain spoiler free for pretty much the entirety of the game, in spite of seeing a friend play through it some years ago***. I know exactly two spoilers: one is about Ardyn, and I might be misremembering it, and the other is about Ignis, and that was entirely my own fault.
So far, it feels very similar to Type-0, so I'm glad I played some of that, even if I didn't entirely get on with it at the time (I'll go back to it eventually). Some of the gameplay feels similar and XV also relies on drawing magic like Type-0. I really dislike it, and I didn't like it in VIII, either. I keep forgetting to equip it, which is irritating, although it's nice that you can still access the main menu in battle to do so/change spells as needed.
Also holy nuts this game is the motherlode of "Ho ho ho, meaningful names, amirite????" And it's not just flipping character names, either. I hate that I know enough Latin to understand what most of them mean. HATE IT.
(*shakes tiny fists at Nomura, because I bet it was his idea* I mean, apologies if not, but also I don't think I'm wrong).
(I mean, c'mon, you called your king Regis??? REALLY. I just. *exhales slowly*).
So yeah, look forward to me complaining about this more in the future! ;)
(FWIW, I'm enjoying it more than I did Type-0. It's just all new, and I have to get used to the battle system still, and by the end, I'll be wondering what past me's problem was).

Other than that, I've been chronically knackered lately/covering for the boss at work, and not a lot else.
I put a bunch of music on my new phone and, while it took forever because I put A LOT on there, it did so with next to no problems, and it didn't feel like pulling teeth, which it used to with my old phone. So that's good!
So now I am going to go and mush some more monsters in FFXV, and hope I can level up enough to do the next dungeon, and maybe unglitch this one sidequest!
~
*I mean, I am technically middle-aged now, dang it.
**I eventually want the whole XIII trilogy for my PS3, so I guess I will have to get over that!
***Not literally. They were tweeting about it, so I read what they were saying.

Heh. I made a mostly incoherent one, hopefully the next will be a bit better.
