On Friday I sat down in the afternoon, fully intending to watch Clue while I worked, except then I got upset about not being able to go to a thing, and then because the friend asking me said nice things to me afterwards and I may have cried a little bit. ANYWAY. So I was in a grump, and I didn't want to spoil the film by watching it while in said mood.
(Clue is one of my favourite films EVER. I've loved it since I was a kid - I think it got shown a lot in the late eighties/early nineties. I caught it again a few years ago and enjoyed it all over again (I didn't think I would) so I've been meaning to watch it again since because I didn't see the whole thing last time).
So instead,
chibichan had directed me, a while back, to an anime streaming website so that I could watch Puella Magi Madoka Magica (henceforth known as Madoka because I can never remember the full title and I just had to google it). I didn't feel like watching Madoka, so I thought I'd check out Kill la Kill since it was available on there, Tumblr seems to be all over it at the moment (well, the part that isn't all over Free! anyway), and I kind of have a crush on Ryuko???
Do you know what? I am actually glad I did. It is SO RIDICULOUS and SO OVER THE TOP, and I LOVE IT. I actually think it is my new favourite anime.
(Escaflowne's held that spot for several years now, so this is something).
(I also think I am the only person not watching it for the fanservice, and I nearly didn't watch it because of that).
I do realise that it's probably not to everyone's taste, though (I thought earlier that I bet it's like Marmite). I didn't think it'd be to mine (and, frankly, the premise is ridiculous), but obviously I know sod all about my taste in animes. (Well, that's not exactly true - I know I like silly stuff, and I know I lean more towards shonen than shoujo, so...I know a bit, I guess???)
I'm mostly caught up now (I'm an episode behind, I haven't seen episode 8 yet), and I started watching Madoka this afternoon. I'm not sure what to make of it right now, but it is only twelve eps, and boy howdy, it sure is different to KLK. More episodes tomorrow, probably.
(And one day I'll get back to playing P4 at the weekends, but it ain't going to be any time soon).

Madoka I love to pieces as well and I think I'd have to say it's been put in one of my top like, 5 favourite animes of all time. The theme (closing, methinks. The hardcore one!) is so kickass, I love it! I just love the whole damn soundtrack!
Though, for a 'magical girl anime' it really IS severely different than what you'd commonly expect, which is probably why I also enjoyed it as much as I did. I think it was about the...third...fourth...episode where I had my first jaw-dropping "WTF did that ACTUALLY happen?" moment, it was so dark and oddly wonderful I think |D;
Your post hit all my fuzzy spots LOL

I adore the end theme for Madoka! I didn't realise until I'd heard it a couple of times that the first time you hear it is when Mami is fighting the witch the first time she shows Madoka and Sakaya what being a magical girl is all about. Although I did like that on the first two episodes the story continues while the credits are running. I'm kind of sad that that doesn't still happen.
YES, TOTALLY. I don't know too much about it and, at the time of writing, I'm only on episode six, but yes, so so much. I think I know which episode you mean, I was the same. Though I spent much of the next episode kind of going, "but did that happen?" because I kind of thought it might not have?? But it did, and wow. Was not expecting it. (God that sounds SO VAGUE I know, but I am trying to avoid spoiling anyone who reads these comments by chance).
