I would recommend it! I got interested because it's set in what appears at first to be a traditional Western, and I love them, as I think I mentioned above :) but also because the universe in which it's set is a multiverse, so there's crossings over between worlds, and I love that sort of stuff as well (it was one of the things I liked about His Dark Materials, incidentally).

I need to request the second book from the library as I'm over halfway through the first now :D
