M's exciting life:
I had an argument with a tin can and sliced open my right thumb, right next to the joint. It's not that bad, and it is finally healing, but I keep bumping it on stuff, and that REALLY hurts. Also it's going to scar but, eh, I have about a billion anyway, so what's one more?

On Monday, I went to Burnley to spend some of my hard-earned birthday money ;)
I picked up Fable II for the Xbox because I wanted to try it out (and I have a sneaking suspicion my sister in law used to play it, so I might mention this one time). I am enjoying it, but I wasn't really sure if I would to begin with. More on that in a minute.
I also bought the PC version of DA:O Ultimate Edition because my PC just about has the specs to handle it. So I can finally play all the DLC (Excited for Shale! Also Darkspawn Chronicles!!! ♥) but also so I can mod it (also screencaps! :D ) I have never modded a game before, so I am super excite! :DDDD
Both games cost me the grand total of £10! I still have birthday money left over and no idea what to spend it on!
So, Fable II!
As I said, I wasn't sure I'd like it. I didn't know what I was expecting, to be honest. I'm still iffy about the silent protagonist thing (as I am in all games where it appears) - this time it's taking some getting used to, since instead of sentences to respond with, you have expressions and poses you can do.
You can't make a custom character to start with - you choose from either a boy or a girl (since the playable prologue is the hero's childhood) - and you can't choose a name, either. The character's referred to as "you", "the hero", and "Sparrow", which was their sister's nickname for them. You can customise your character later in the game, though, with tattoos, haircuts, and dye. You can also purchase make up (but, and I really like this, it's not forced on you just because you're playing a female), and facial hair (which you can even wear if you are female, and I quite fancy making my current character bearded because it amuses me).
Armour is not a thing that exists in this game, which is kind of weird, as I'm so used to it in other games. All your survival comes from the skills you learn, rather than a combination of that, and what you're wearing. Clothes change how attractive you appear, or how scary, or sometimes, even how posh.
It's another game with time progression, and it actually has a use - somewhat like in Dragon Quest VIII, in that when it's dark, shops are shut, but other things might be open (I haven't managed to find a brothel yet, however). Also you can go to sleep for up to seven days (though what purpose that serves, I have no idea, since the game - as far as I know - doesn't keep track of weeks/days/years that it takes you to do the story).
So far, I have recruited Hammer, who's hanging around with Theresa in Bower Lake (well, not literally IN the Lake, but nearby). Theresa is annoying, and I wish there was a way to switch off her constant commentary. Occasionally she's helpful but a lot of the time she's stating the obvious and it's DOING MY HEAD IN.
I was supposed to be recruiting Garth next, but the bad guys kidnapped him, and I actually suspect I'll pick up Reaver first (I mean if nothing else: Hammer = Strength. Garth = Will, and Reaver = Skill, but when you look at the attributes to level up, Will's the last one. SO. I am onto you, game).
I have also married a (male) gypsy in camp, and am flirting with a barmaid in Bowerstone. But I don't think I'll marry her? I don't know.
Currently, I have blue hair, but I don't think anyone should be surprised by that, right?
When I left the game last, I was restoring a cursed snowglobe (not part of the main quest, and also don't ask because I don't even know. I just wanted to turn my dog into a husky instead of his being a basic mutt).
And now I'm going to go and play some more of it, and attempt to NOT stay up till gone 1 in the morning doing so.
