"i'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes"
We had a storm last Sunday, and I slept badly because of it! I am not in the least bit surprised!
Luckily, I didn't spend my birthday in tears, because I'd already been sleeping badly all week, and I actually slept better on that night than the previous handful.
I didn't go out anywhere, because the Met Office had advised people not to go out unless they absolutely HAD to, and it was a good job I didn't, because town flooded. The main road by me and further down flooded a bit, so even if I'd gone out, I wouldn't have been able to get back. (I woke up to the sound of flood sirens, which are actual WWII air raid sirens and let me tell you, it's spooky A F).
I spent the majority of the day freaking out about town flooding, and worrying about my friends and work colleagues. I also spent a lot of it drawing, which was nice.
And now we are having another storm today which hopefully *fingers crossed* won't be as bad as the last one.

In other news, you will probably not be surprised to learn that I have fallen down a stationery rabbit hole.
I didn't mean to!
I've got a cold again, so on Thursday I was like, "Imma take it easy and watch youtube videos all day!" The first one I watched was someone organising their stationery (I like shit like that; I find it satisfying. I'll watch people organise their art supplies, too), and then I clicked another one, of someone opening a stationery delivery (I also like unboxings, because it will give me ideas for supplies and stuff. Also it's kind of like watching people open presents?) And then I clicked another one from the same user, and it was about journalling.
Now. I, in general, am not a fan of journalling - a lot of what I see online/in books feels a bit pretentious and not for me. But the way this person was making hers was more like a scrapbook, but with journal stuff as well, and I kind of liked that. She calls it kawaii journalling, and somehow it works for me better than other stuff I've seen.
She uses a lot of stickers, and sticky notes, and stamps, and other stuff as she makes her pages, and this is where the rabbit hole comes in, my friends. I spent a good chunk of time yesterday on ebay specifically looking for "cute sticky notes" and then I bought a bunch with some of my birthday money, didn't I. Not that I need the internet's encouragement to buy sticky notes. I'll buy bog standard ones with absolutely no encouragement, even though I don't need them.
And now I'm looking up stickers, because ditto.
There is some nice stuff out there!
I think it works better for me, because it's similar to how I save stuff in my sketchbooks (apparently most people don't do this? but I stick pics I like/bits of wrapping paper/etc in my sketchbooks as sort of inspiration, but also a way to keep hold of them so they don't get lost or damaged. I've done it for years, and never thought it was something other people didn't do). I have made myself a book with some nice paper, in case I decide to write in it with something other than a biro, and I've started putting a few things in. I made a book rather than using one I already owned, in case I get bored (which is what happened with my half-arsed attempt at bullet journalling - though I lasted three months, which is longer than I thought I would!) and then I haven't half used a book or whatever.
Anyway, now I've made this confession, I'm going to go and watch some more videos now :D
(if you want to check out her videos, the journalling person I mentioned is Rainbowholic, and the unboxing video I watched was first was the London Gifties one).
